I saw that. I want one. I already have an aluminium screw in stock extender which is great. When I want it really short, I will use that. Otherwise it will be a sweet sbr with laminated stock
 
Just came up to BC from New Mexico where I live. Was at border crossing for 40 minutes as they tried to determine if it was legal. i was told at first that the rifle needed to be a minimum of 26", but after showing them a copy of the letter the gun is non restricted, they made some phone calls. The officer told me the person they spoke with on the other line said it was legal, but couldn't give them an answer as to the reasoning. I was then given back the RH and was on my way.

I asked why the letter was not enough, and he said it's possible that the guns shipped to Canada are made to conform to their laws and the US model wasn't. I pointed out that the letter shows the barrel length of 12" (metric on the letter), and that's the same as my barrel measured. That's when he got on the phone. Nice gentleman and he was very pleasant and patient. Thankfully, all worked out.......but it just shows how this gun can lead to many questions on it's legality.
 
Quick question - is there a copy of the RCMP legal letter floating around? I'd like to make some copies so I can prove it's legal if I get stopped... can't seem to find anything.

I just put one of those elastic shell holders on the stock to protect the wood from the trees/bushes.

I carry it at the range in my leather holster, and for work I use the Voodoo Tactical breacher shotgun scabbard.

HWally, it is somewhere in this thread, it is a wanstalls post from a while back. I will try to find it.
 
Is it just mine or a design flaw. I was playing with snap caps, luckily and found I could fire with the action a half inch open.
 
I was going to post about the same thing! Noticed it yesterday, there is no lever safety like on a model 94 and there seems to be nothing mechanical stoping the rifle firing with the action part way open. I plan to go buy some fresh snap caps later today and see if the firing pin is actually striking the primer when the action is open.

I would like to know as well. I saw it here a few weeks ago and should have printed it off. I tried to find it today and gave up after an hour searching. A copy in my gun locker and a copy in my truck would be appropriate.

Any idea what post # it's on?

i believe wanstall's did a seperate thread where he posted the sheet with the frt number .

For those of you that dont know, the rossi ranch hand is a mares leg rifle with a 12 inch barrel and cut down butt stock and has an OAL of 24".

Gary recently informed us that these rifles have been classified as non-res and has an order coming in of 44magnum, 357magnum/38spl, and 45LC

$650 is the ESTIMATED price these will be coming in for and we can only hope it is less than or equal to that.

I am looking forward to purchasing one as it will make for the perfect bush gun for animal defense, and will be just a handy little rifle to carry around the farm.

I think these rifles will be a popular item and I appreciate Gary going through the trouble to bring them into the country!

UPDATE: First shipment is due at the end of march.

Holsters are being looked into by Gary from Wanstalls (see posts 64 through 72), and spacesaver is also looking into making holsters.

Also I am getting PMs asking which dealer is selling these oddly enough... this is the dealer wanstalls section, and it is wanstalls who is bringing these rifles in to Canada.

Problems/ Solutions:

Shooting High: - low rear buckhorn sight and any front sight from steves guns works http://www.stevesgunz.com/

Loading gate functionality problems (hit and miss and rare) - no known cure besides a gunsmith/new parts etc

Fiocci ammo apparently doesn't work too well

Accessories
Voodoo tactical breacher scabbard works well for attaching to molle gear and backpacks.

Is the feed gate issue that the feed gate pops out?

If so mine does that occasionally. :( I can always push it back in. It is rare on my gun. Maybe 2 or 3 times since I bought it. No know cause either. Just sometime pops out.

Great little gun but the fit and finish of these parts can be pretty rough.
