Going to call the CFO and find out if this is just me being paranoid.
***So i was in fact wrong this guy CGN handle Sniper### is legit, he was just new to buying restricted firearms and this was his first time buying from a private sale. Long story short I had alot of apologizing to do to this guy. lesson learned when dealing with people new to this sight and new to buying firearms...be patient and understanding when dealing newbies. We would not want people to be afraid and cancel their CGN membership because of an A$$ like me.

Well he may be new it looks as if you yourself have a few things wrong!

1 - A restricted transfer can be approved that day, and even in a few minutes. Happens all the time, even in Ontario on occassion.

2 - You sure as hell do not need to receive approval in paper form! Once the firearm is transferred it is transferred. A verbal confirmation is all that is needed before being able to ship the firearm. I have asked the CFC, and CFO this on several occasions, and as long as the firearm is transferred you can get the reference number and ship.

3 - In Ontario at least they do not issue paper Short Term ATT's! They give you a reference number and you are good to go. No papers are necessary!

4 - Last but not least it is against forum rules to post the contents of a PM without the other parties permission!

The guy is obviously new, and taking a look at his post history would tell you this pretty damn quick.

Have a nice day.

true I bought two handguns in the last month and I was in and out of the store within an hour with everything done.

I live in alberta and i have been told by the CFO in edmonton that I must receive the ATT in the mail before transporting to the post office and that the firearm connot be shipped until the transfer has been approved and not without the ATT.

I'm reading this correct, he was previously banned? "Hey, I was banned for the last week so I couldn't get in touch with you, do you have a tracking # for me ? "

I'd disengage all contact with the user and put them on your ignore list then.

There was a good reason to ban them in the first place.

EDIT:

In regards to the Temp ATT, I've had all mine EMAILED to me while on the phone with the CFO's, so I can print it right there and ship the restricted item.

Plus the op was a complete ass to this guy. Not everybody knows everything about guns, this guy is new and probably doesnt speak or write english that well by the look of his posts. Why would he pay you if he was trying to pull something illegal. I think you need to quit being an ass and talk to the guy, call him on the phone etc...

Once the transfer is approved you can ship, you do need a short term ATT, but that can be got with a phone call, they will email or fax you the short term ATT. They just did this for me, sent the STATT to my email.

Have you been paid? Call the CFO office and see if the transfer is completed. Also, yes, the Alberta CFO office will fax a STATT so you can use it immediately.

x2...

Seems like both parties didn't know everything they had to know.

Maybe I am jumping the gun, it just seems a little off. I have never had this type of interaction when selling a restricted firearm. I will have to just call the CFO and find out what is going on, maybe he is legit.

Same here. I have never had to wait more than 5 minutes for a STATT to arrive via email after asking for one over the phone.

Why don't you call the CFO and confirm the transfer has been approved if you have doubts?

You have the transfer #, just call the CFO and see if it cleared, if so you can get the STATT to go to the post office at the same time. Problem solved! :D

It would be truly ironic if the buyer decided that you posting his PMs was an issue for the mods though. ;)
