The 2nd Victoria M14 Seminar will be held on the Sunday, Nov 01,
at the upcoming Victoria 2 day gun show, Sat, Oct 31 & Sun, Nov 01.

LOCATION: Saanich Fairgrounds, RCMP building
1528 Stelly's Crossroad

TIME: Sunday, Nov 01, facilities are open 9:00 AM till 3:00 pm,
the classroom part of the M14 seminar will run from 10:00 AM till 3:00 PM,
with an optional extra $ 5.00 cost RANGE SESSION to follow. M14 seminar attendees are encouraged to show up early Sunday morning to take in the general gun show, stop by my table, get some free one on one advice from me ...
and maybe even buy something?

COST: entrance to the gunshow, $ 5
M14 Seminar fees, $ 50
OPTIONAL Range Session Fee: Range fee will be $ 5

NOTE: If you choose to attend the optional range session,
Due to insurance requirements for range use, you will have to provide your REAL NAME to sign in as a guest at the NSR&G range.

NO LIVE AMMO IN THE CLASS ROOM SESSION
BUT HAVE AMMO FOR THE RANGE SESSION.

The time allocated for the HANDS ON CLASS ROOM PART of the seminar, should be more than enough to go over the basics again in class, for those who are signing up new, and as a refresher for those who attended the first class.

I also will have receiver wrench, barrel vice, and other tools to share ... but this is after all a DO IT YOURSELF course, so be prepared to do your own work, on your own M14. There should be plenty of time for everyone to do any barrel changes, reindexing, lapping in of GI bolts, scope mounting, and whatever other tweaks and tricks desired.

After 3:00 PM, there will be an OPTIONAL extra visit to the NSR&G range, to try out the improvements by actually shooting our M14 rifles.

NOTE: This seminar is an INDEPENDENT event, and is NOT affiliated with VIACA [ Vancouver Island Arms Collectors Association ].
Nor is it affiliated with the West Coast M14 Seminars put on by Thomas/M14Doctor

This seminar will be facilitated by Lazerus2000, and every participant is also expected to contribute to the ongoing dialog, sharing their experience and enthusiasm with the M14 rifles.

Bring your M14, or if you don’t have a 14 yet, bring yourself, your questions, any M14 tools or parts you do have, and anything M14 related you want to sell or trade. This IS a gunshow …. there will be things to buy/sell/trade.

PLEASE NOTE HOWEVER,
VIACA show SAFETY rules mandate that:

1.] NO AMMUNITION WHATSOEVER IS ALLOWED AT THE SEMINAR!!!!! Consider the seminar tables as if they were the SAFE ZONE at an IPSC Match.
SO,
NO live rounds, no dummy rounds, nothing at all that even looks like ammunition.

2.] All firearms handling will be done with the muzzle pointed in the designated safe direction.

Attendees: anyone with an interest in the M14 type rifles, no experience required

Attendance: limited to TEN,
that is about all we can sit comfortably at 16’ of tables length

SIGN UP: reply by CGN PM to – Lazerus2000, and PLEASE INCLUDE YOUR PERSONAL E-MAIL ADDRESS, as the course material is too large to go by CGN Personal Message.

NOTE: The updated course material will be e-mailed to confirmed attendees,
PLEASE READ THIS MATERIAL IN ADVANCE!

Thanks LAZ for a great workshop today. I know everyone can speak for themselves, but it was great to spend a day with you and the rest of the group. We all benefited from your experience, and appreciate you teaching us too things to mention here - all of which make M14 ownership safer and more enjoyable for responsible Canadian shooters.

Hi Laz: Your skill and adroit use of the M14 leaves us all amazed time and time again. Thank-you for this weekend's Seminar: these are life skills we will keep for the rest of ours. Cheers!

PS - Looking forward to the next Seminar where if I am correct, it will be held at one of our local ranges! :ar15:
PSS - I will have a video or two up on youtube soon, but I will post the actual video on this thread, so subscribe and stay tuned...

Great job again LAZ. Takes a lot of mystery out of the M14 and learned there is a lot I can do at home with a few proper tools to take care of my rifle and keep it shooting. You did get me thinking about a shorty (damn you)

Well,
another M14 seminar come and gone.

We managed to get in some HANDS ON experience along with SEVERAL HOURS of classroom theory. Six hours seems about right to cover everything, with some time left over to do some actual teaking, indexing and accurising. I saw mostly happy faces in the class, except for the two who found out their headspaceing was a bit ..."generous".

And congratulations to RADAR for having one of the few Chinese M14 rilfes I've ever seen that was very close to .308 GO with the original bolt.
BONUS POINTS for that!!

Unfortunately,
the "FALL BACK" time change Saturday evening screwed up our plans to quit at 4:00 and run over to the NSR&G for some range time. We would have had only a short time at the range before the NEW dusk caught up with us. So the class voted to stay indoors for more M14 information overload.

Feedback was very positive. Most of the class had been at the original introductory two hour session, and over and over again I heard that the second session was great as a reinforcement and reminder of what they learned the first time.

Thanks and acknowledgments to:

John Pullen,
for generously once again loaning us his 7.62 NATO M14 modified headspace gages, which allowed us to check headspacing without having to strip the bolts. And for allowing us to use the VIACA gunshow for the seminar. Holding these seminar at gunshows seems like a great fit. Hopefully we will have more in the future.

Frank ...
for providing the FREE M14.CA T shirts, available in large, Large, or LARGE. The Tshirts are VERY attractive, and were a hit with the enthusiastic gunshow lookeyloo crowd, who stopped by the seminar as well. The much anticipated chorus line/kick dancing by all of the identical M14.CA Tshirt clad class, did NOT happen this time due to time constraints, but maybe next time?

Also thanks to Frank for videoing much of the seminar. The information from this seminar, and other M14 tricks and tweaks, will be available soon on a DVD.

Mark
For once again providing us with his ?portable? wortktable and bench vise. When we say "portable", we mean it is so heavy he has to get help loading it in and out of his truck.
And thanks for everyone who attended, and provided their enthusiasm, which helped make the seminar a success.

Great class Laz and great to meet everyone there. Looking forward to more learning in the future....

ps. I wish my damn bolt wasn't so 'generous' as you put it. Maybe the next 2 or 3 or 4 I own will be better :D
