I just completed my Stevens/Savage build in .223. My first precision rifle. It's taken many months to collect all the parts for the build. Most parts came from dealers on CGN. Thanks to the sponsors for supplying the parts! Hoping to get out this weekend to see how it shoots! I need to take some pictures in the day light.

Stevens 200 in 308 (Gagnon Sports)
Choate Custom Tactical stock (JW Precision - he closed up shop after bought the stock)
McGowen 22" Heavy profile barrel -1 in 8" twist (barrel has virtually no taper) (Mystic Precision)
Rifle Basix SAV-2 trigger (Mystic Precision)
Savage bolt head in 223 (Mystic Precision)
Oversize bolt knob (Mystic Precision)
Savage Barrel nut (stock one was damaged while taking it off, it was rusty and wouldnt thread onto the new barrel) (Mystic Precision)
CDI Bottom Metal (North Shore Barrels - juanvaldez)
AI 10-round magazines (Wolverine Supplies)
EGW HD rail mount 20 MOA (Brownell's)

Scope is a Bushnell Tactical 6-24x50, waiting for Burris XTR rings in the mail.

looks good! I just got my choate from mystic last night.

did you have any trouble with the rifle basix trigger and the choate?

my timney required removal of a lot of material where the trigger slides through the stock.

Looks great. I have the same stock with Savage bottom metal and mag (man I wish they made/sold/exported 10 rounders). I'm looking to change my barrel out probably in the fall.

nice build for not much money,

I used to look down at inexpensive builds until I kept getting beat by them,

now I like them for what they are, entry level guns until the right shooter comes along,

a 4g custom build may not shoot as good,

nice touch hope you are happy

So I've had my build completed for a few months but havent had the time to shoot it (school, etc.). Well I finally got to shoot it today. I'm a huge noob, as this was my 4th time ever being at a range, and maybe it was a fluke, but I managed to shoot a group under the size of a dime at 100 yards today using Hornady 75gr Match .223(BTHP). I spent most of the time breaking in the barrel and shooting some cheaper Remington .223 ammo and even those grouped decently. But once I switched over to the Hornady, it was dead on. Even hit a 300 yard gong (maybe 6 to 8" in diameter) on my first try.

This was my first precision rifle and I decided to put it together myself...I'd like to thank Jerry at Mystic Precision for supplying the barrel, Rifle basix trigger, bolt handle and bolt head and also the advice he gave me. Anyway here's my target, 4 shot group (My first shot was on a different piece of paper and we couldnt spot the hole so I used a new target.) I'm excited to get some more trigger time on it.
