An excellent upgrade for any plastic-framed pistol would be any pistol that does not have a plastic frame.
If you're thinking about getting into comp shooting you need to read up on the rules regarding what is allowed for upgrades. Certain upgrades can keep you out of certain groups, or force you into a class you don't want. IMO the Zev triggers are a complete waste of money.
Should you get the 9mm extractor too?
Can't speak for everyone, but I've got 100 rounds down the pipe of my Gen 4 22 with a 40-9 LW conversion barrel and haven't had any issues with the .40 extractor.
Mine has worked for years too, but the OP is asking about spending money on upgrades.
