I just finished my safety course for rpal last night. Sending in the papers later this week. I got my pal a few months ago. Do i still need to have the mandatory 28 day period? Does having a pal make the process faster?

My experience....expect delays.
I've had my PAL for about a year. I applied about 60 days ago to upgrade to a restricted PAL and had to call for 'screening'.
Spoke to a lady who obviously hates her job. What a waste of my time. 10 minutes on hold and then a total lack of customer service.
My application is being sent back to me for a new referral person. She didn't like the one I gave.
Don't even try to explain something, they don't care.
Good Luck!! Maybe you'll do better.

Depending on where you live the wait time can be anywhere from 28 days to 8 weeks.

The 28 days is mandatory again, and they will not start processing your file until the 28 days is up. Once it is, they still have to call your references and yourself for the phone interview and do the background check.

Realistically, expect to wait a minimum of 6 weeks to get everything processed and up to 8 weeks to have your card in hand.

When i upgraded mine 3 years ago there was no minimum 28 day period for upgrades. I waited just over a week for it to be entered into their system. I then called and did my interview, i asked for my file # for both my references to call in. I then called the cfo office to make sure it was sent to them for final approval and that there was no errors. 2 days later online showed it has been issued. The whole process took maybe 2 weeks. That was in ONTARIO too!!!!

Can anyone confirm that there is no 28 day wait? Safety course for the range is this upcoming weekend and getting excited

huh?? In your first post you said you just finished the course? That was 3 weeks ago.

Getting a safety course with my local club to learn the facilities, should have made it clearer. Edited now. Application hasnt shown up online yet so trying to figure out how much longer
