Upgrading to a 500-600 yard scope - suggestions?

Hey CGNs,

I've got a Tikka T3 3006 and have really loved shooting out to 300 yards but am thinking I'd like to step up from the 3x9 x40 Burris Fullfield II that I've got on there to something that'll be easier to see 500-600 yards.

Any suggestions for a scope on a T3 Varmint 3006 that's a good price point for what I get? I loved the Fullfield for that. Do I need to get up to x14.5 or above that? What's a fairly common and easy to dial (hoping for resettable to 0 or cartridge specific but open to anything decent for $500-600ish.

Better glass and higher mag will let you see well at longer distances. Depending on what you are trying to see, a quality 3-9 might be all you need?

Target turrents make adjustment easier in the field if dialing for varying distances all the time.

Side focus really is nice when shooting in the field.

Have a look at the Sightron website and see what features suit your tastes. The SII Big Sky and SIII scopes are some of the best value on the market today. They may be a bit higher then your price goals but the performance is so so much better then anything in your price range.

Let me know...

Jerry with Mystic is right, he's also too modest to tell you to check out his website, so i'll tell you, check out his website and have a look at his sightron's!, Everything I've seen of the sightron scopes has been excellent, and there are a lot of comparisons to the much higher priced night force scopes, have a search on the web about their reviews. Bang for the buck!

In the 3-15 the Weaver Tactical might be worth a look. Easier on the wallet than the Premier (which I'm sure is a better scope, but you pay for that). Mystic has a couple Weaver scopes on his site, maybe he can get them in or has some experience with them.

I recomend the Sightron Slll 6X24X50 LRMD, incredible scope for the price, 3 of my rifles wear this scope and would not change a thing... JP.

If you want to go sighton, save money and buy from 4scopes.com I saved over$200 buying from them compared to Canadian prices and thats ontop of shipping/handling fees/taxes. Plus it took three days total from order to recieving.

+1 Jerry is a stand up guy, and sightrons SIII are great glass. love my fixed 10.

I agree with what everyone is saying about Sightron scopes, very good value for the dollar.....if you don't want to spend that much, Burris has the new C-4 scopes out now, with the purchase they will send you a custom calibrated elevation knob for your rifle and bullet combination...the scopes come in 3-9x40 and 4-12 in both 1 inch tubes and 30mm tubes. I think prices start about 299 here in Canada. Might be something to look at.

It's a bit more $ but you can't go wrong with the SIII 8-32x56, very happy with mine and I use it on different rifles, good bases and rings and always back on center so long as I remember my zeros for each of them.
Closer to the $6-700 range is the SIIB 6-24x42, I might get one of these for a .22lr next year, plus side of it is its more compact and allows a hunting rifle to fit in more common cases that large scopes don't always fit into well, although for a bit more $ the SIII does offer some neat things too.

Is it your goal to post on every thread that mentions Sightron and mention 4scopes.com? Pretty pathetic way to get more posts.

Have a Sightron 6.5x20x50 an it's quite simply an awesome scope. I put it against my Vortex HS 4 x 16-50mm and the Sightron resolves considerably better (same power). Go Bigsky SII and shop Canadian - Jerry is one heck of a guy with top-notch customer service.

It's better than his old goal which was slam ever SR22 owner to death about upgrading their guns when his Mossberg Tactical was every bit the gun for half the money. Of course he then stopped that after posting a WTB a 10/22 ad. He also likes to frequently PM people after seeing modifications on their rifles and proclaim that such modifications where done illegally or parts brought in illegally with zero to no actually idea of any import/exportation laws.

To keep with the topic of the thread. Sightron scopes are terrific value and quality. Jerry will not do you wrong. Supporting Canadian is great when it's supporting a great member and supplier like Mystic even if it costs a few more dollars, nature of the business.

Yep and I've had about a dozen or so people thank me for saving them money.
As for the sr22, if people were upfront with there costs when giving there input on the sr22 I wouldn't have an issue.
As for the import on items that companies don't have export licences too, I'm not a lawyer and you didn't once state that you had duel citizenship, even then, still don't know if it's legal.
Atleast we can agree that Sightron scopes are a good opition for the OP.

Buying in the States could be easy with family on the other side, but me, what i really like with my 3 or 4 main dealers, is if something have to be taken care, for me that's worth a lot of money...
I had a dealer take back a whole rifle ( expensive one ) no question asked and send me a new one and i did not ear nothing about it after that, this, my friends is worthed to pay a little bit more... In my book that is... JP.

Not trying to be the internet nanny but with the rapidly changing US laws, "improperly" imported goods will likely loose warranty support as there is no way to then legally get it back and forth across the border for service.

I have backed off a bunch of products not because I can't get them in properly, but because customer support for the product becomes very problematic due to needing US warranty and the lack of proper infrastructure.

For scopes, I support and supply Sightrons because they are superb, well priced AND we have complete warranty support established for the customers.

This warranty likely can't extend to 'grey market' imports. Not because we don't want to but because we can't show proper export from the US. There is a reason stuff cost more.
