Upgrading to a Vortex Viper: What do I need to know?

Seriously though, I have used pretty much every scope brand that we can get here, and I just don't get the hate for vortex. I have had as many problems with other brands. They had some issue with QC but that was a while ago. Atleast they innovate, Leupold is still stuck on 20 years ago as far as reticles/turrets and I have seen tracking issues with even their high end stuff. They make a great light weight hunting scope. Their tactical and PRS models leave much to be desired over other brands (although except in rare cases they still take the weight advantage). I have owned a vortex in in all the price categories and frankly you get more for your money with them over most others. Bushnell is another brand in your price range I would consider, they have been releasing a lot of budget minded feature rich stuff for the tactical side and they hitting out of their league as far as value goes. Nikon was late to the game and are getting out now. I don't want to support a company who is getting out and I will spend my $$$ on companies that continue to support the industry. You want to really see who supports the industry? Which companies are sponsoring shooters and which companies have lots of gear on the prize tables?

I have an old Nikon Monarch... maybe because it's a 2-7x33 with 1" tube and gloss finish, but there is not much in the way of "upgrading" from that for hunting purposes. For magnification reference: I shot a match out to 600m with an older Leupold with variable that maxed at 10x... <6" dot at that distance was not a difficult target to hit.

Fill your boots though: if you'll use a second scope in the near future, I'm going out on a limb here saying (note sarcasm) it'll take more CAD to obtain that scope later rather than now. (compliments of the Turd Reich debasing the dollar by selling off the last gold reserves and abracadabra-ing a trillion new dollars into circulation.)

For the record: I don't have anything against Vortex... just don't buy anything cheaper than the Viper line. I've had to warranty a Diamondback that got wasted on a 22lr. They did replace it with a better model which I promptly sold and put in it's place an old Bushnell 4200 Elite. My rangefinder is doing some weird things... unless I changed a setting, it might be needing a warranty trip as well.
