Is there anyone in the Stratford and area that wouldn't mind having a new upland hunter tag along on a few hunts this fall to learn the ropes? I have a new O/U coming this week and will be getting some practice shooting trap and skeet this summer at my local club.

You may wish to visit Hullett Marsh (at Clinton) during Fall. I believe that the Pheasant release program is still ongoing but likely with a reduction in bird numbers this year. The place isn't far from your location and would present opportunities to meet with Bird Hunters who frequent the area. Chasing Pheasants without the benefit of a bird dog can be virtually impossible though. However, if one is lucky and the timing of one's trip somehow coincides very closely with a release period then you might be able to come across a few birds and attempt some shots! :)

An entry in the HuntOntario Forum may help generate better responses. Best of luck!

You'll no doubt meet a couple of "Uplanders" shooting Skeet at your local club.

Although not a "fail safe" method, look for guys shooting 20 or 28 gauge guns, and
especially those shooting SxS's "gun down" when they call for the bird.
Those with a setter, GSHP, Brittany or Springer in the car are also a pretty good bet ! ;)
