upland gun help

I haven't hunted much in recent years, but used to lug around a 20ga 870 Wingmaster for the job. Did just fine, and I wasn't overly concerned about keeping the gun pristine. I've since inherited a 20ga Citori, and boy is THAT gun a pleasure to carry/shoulder/shoot. Seems everyone who tries it shoots it very well too. I've only had it out for grouse a couple of times, in crappy weather too....but I can't imagine a much better upland gun than that. Maybe if it had choke tubes instead of fixed...but that hasn't been an issue so far. My vote, based on super-limited experience~get a decent over/under, even if it's used.

Spend the extra and get the Benelli. People will tell you they're the same, I can promise you they aren't.

Unfortunately bennelli's are even more plasticy and ugly. The franchi's are a much nicer feeling and pointing gun.

The classic grouse gun is a S x S in a small gauge , short barrels & open chokes . I agree with this classic after
hunting them since 1962 . My best , so far , is an AYA Model 3 , in 28 ga. Next are my Ithaca Flues in 20 ga.
& 16 ga. Some prefer O/U , but not me . ,,,,,,,,,,, my 2 cents.
