Upland hunting in Ontario and Quebec: 3 shells/rounds max regulations?

It is my understanding that for hunting migratory birds the shotgun can only holde 3 shells/rounds .... one in the chamber and two in the magazine.

I am wondering if any such regulations exist for upland bird hunting in Ontario or Quebec?
If yes, can somebody point me to section/chapter of the Ontario or Quebec regulations?

I am intending to hunt grouse soon with my 870 and I am wondering if I need to "plug" my 870 ....

Do you expect your position to be over run by Grouse?
One will be hard pressed to get a triple header of Grouse unless of course it is the Famous Grouse Scotch Whiskey.
In that case I suggest a good Cuban cigar and lots of ice with a crystal whiskey glass.

If you need more than three you need to practice combat loading your pump shotgun, I happened upon a troupe of five spruce grouse last year. Loaded 2+1 and dropped three, quickly loaded another 2 shells and dropped a fourth before the last one realized what was happening to its fellow grouse.
 
Load it up in Quebec no restriction for nonmigratory birds. Just be careful if woodcock are around they are migratory.
 
Post #5 says it all and is 100% correct for Ontario. Like it or not that's the way it is. I hunted pheasants at Pelee for many years and have been checked by the CO's on numerous occasions for a properly plugged gun as I used a 20 ga. pump.

Page 17 of the 2018-2020 Hunting and Trapping Synopsis.
"It is unlawful to hunt or trap with a set gun or with a pump, repeating, or auto loading shotgun unless the magazine contains a plug that is incapable of holding more than 2 cartridges. Where the use of a shotgun is allowed for hunting or trapping big game, an unplugged shotgun holding more than 2 cartridges and firing single projectiles only (slugs) may be used"

Its stupid but in ontario all shotguns must be plugged to hold no more than 3 shells. Even with a rifled barrel hunting big game

If your gun cycles them you can stash a few more 1.75" aguila shells legally
 
I feel your pain haha, I have made plugs for all mine as they are 6+1 and 7+1 in capacity. I had to make a plug for my grizzly mags this year since I have a choked barrel on it now, it seems silly since we have a daily upland bag limit to observe. I routinely run into groups of grouse in the 4 and 5’s, I’ve gotten good at reloading quickly lol.
 
Disregard any law info anyone gives you.... the whole premise of only 3 rounds in the Chamber is to give the Grouse a Fair Chance to get away or have another Grouse tackle you while your reloading before you shoot any more.



So Three 2-3/4 shells or 3-1/2" shells? difference of Four 2-3/4" and Three 3-1/2" shells is only half an inch.....Our laws are silly. Maybe we should also shoot left handed on Thursdays and Sundays also.
