Just thinking back to an old post by a member who got to shoot some experimental 12G loads from remington that were running about 2000FPS IIRC. What do you suppose a modern handloader can do with a modern gun? Recoil isn't an issue as long as the gun isn't taking a thrashing and within the realm of safety. There is very little for 12G data that I can dig up and nothing that goes beyond factory ballistics. Definitely not getting into reloading 12G if I am not going to see a marked increase in performance.

The one problem i encountered years ago when i was experimenting with heavy loads was, the cases(plastic) would not stand up to the pressure and the primer pockets would expand, making it possible for the primer to fall out of the case and into the action, binding up the gun...none of those cases could be used again even if resized as the primer pockets were too big. Unburn't powder was another problem in the semi-auto, crimps opening up prematurely caused problems too. I don't think this will have a happy ending for you, I think you would have better luck trying to improve on patterns, with slightly elevated velocities and bismuth shot, with dif. wads, buffers, etc.

Check 12GA FH THREAD. You can do same with shot as we do with slugs
in 3" plastic cases.Or 3.5 cases little more. Use right powder. outdo
factory loads by 25%.ED
