I'm an AR newb, just got my first one ( BCM M4) and notice a fair bit of wiggle between the upper and lower. I have put 250 rounds down range with no problems, the gun is more accurate than I am!.I have googled this and most of the answers say that it is normal. Milspec guns like BCM & Colt that are military grade are made this way for easy takedown / jam clearing in the field and does not affect accuracy, was an answers I saw often. My friends DD has very little wiggle in comparison to mine. I have read about the wedge and O ring fix but a lot of people say not to bother, just shoot the hell out of it.Im not to concerned but it drive my OCD side nuts :)

My brand new DDM4V7 has no wiggle at all. Tighter than a virgin nun.

The Magpul stock however wiggles too much on the buffer tube IMO, I was surprised at that, didn't see any discussion or thread rants on that topic.

Cut two small (about 1"), thin strips of electrical or duct tape and stick it along the length of the bottom frame near the rear take down pin. You may need to clean the frame of oils with some rubbing alcohol or acetone first. Ta da, no more upper/lower play.

So I shouldn't be concerned about the wiggle?

Yup, best way to clean up some play between upper and lower. The play is normal in any milspec AR platform, and is NOT a problem.
DD machines their uppers and lowers tighter to appease the civilian market. Having assembled many AR15's, I can say that DD can be too tight. To the point of having to tap pins in and out to open the receivers....

I put half a foam earplug in my receiver under the rear takedown pin. Wiggle gone. Painful to shoot with CTR stock and a beard though.

you can change the take down pins for slightly larger ones (might have to try a few....)

the wiggle doesnt affect function, but it can get annoying for sure

Colt6920 had minor wiggle
DD Mk18 has none, you need something to push pin out
KAC Sr15e3 had a LOT of wiggle, i had to use a wedge, when firing without wedge the pin would come loose. Not what I expected from a 3k otherwise perfect gun.

My new Bush(Rem)master is tight with no wiggle, my Dlask/DPMS had a bit, used a piece of cardboard under the rear lug to tighten it up.
