Nothing special for a lot of folks but our community is being over run with coyotes which is pretty much at the fringe of their range. See them all time of day (and night) and the best thing is I havent seen a stray / loose cat in town in the last 3 years :). We have a very limited hunt for them in two locations in town but havent scored on any yet in the past two seasons (due to firearm restrictions / time /location allowed to hunt). Gunner410, his wife and I are going to try again tomorrow morning.

I set up a trail camera down the street at a couple of ladies house - they have tracks coming up the bluff in their backyard and right to the neighbors bird feeder. Thought i would share a couple of the better pictures. Going to pull the card from my backyard camera tomorrow.

We have them here in the city. Seen them a few times when walking the dogs. Can't say that they are hurting anyone. Probably wouldn't have them if we didn't have so many rabbits living on every block.
 
Nice pictures, he appears at ease in the presence of the camera. Did you wipe your scent from the camera, or use something to mask your scent. I have cameras out back here and if I don't wipe them down to eliminate scent the timber wolves will shy from the area of the camera. I was curious as to whether coyotes were as cautious around items like cameras as wolves. Then again since that coyote is standing is some ones yard I guess he is well accustom to human odor where the wolves around here are not.
 
I never thought of setting up the trail cams at home. Great idea!

Where I am in Scarborough (Guildwood), its a popular hunting spot for them (bunnies, 60#raccoons and all indoor cats). Sometimes, when I take the dog out late at night for a smoke and a pee, I can see them watching us from across the road, in the high school's football field that backs onto the wooded bluffs. Not a huge fan of them; especially with the aggression that the coyotes show my dog up at my camp (South of Bancroft).
 
We have plenty in my neighborhood, was taking to a neighbor and he said one came in while some kids were tobogganing and they threw their sled at it (one of the light foam ones) and it picked it up and carried it across the park. Little jerk. Frustrating to me as we (they) are forced to call conservation to come trap it, I grew up in the country, didn’t need to call the fish cops to come protect me from coyotes. If I wasn’t scared of certain jail time there would be no coyotes in my area.
 
...watch it...urban coyotes are crossbreds...techincally coyiticians...coyotes crossed with politicians...opportuntists every one (likely the liberal gene pool but further DNA testing will prove one way or another)
 
Coyotes staying close to homes and town because of wolves?

Kind of the same as here, but with foxes. They den in people's backyards and ditches near the road, I assume it's to be away from the coyotes
 
Every now and then we see them in the news cause people came across them in park and street of Montréal. They are more and more coyotes in those area and no hunting allowed so i guess they will multiply in the future...

Surprisingly we dont find wolves or coyotes human scent sensitive - they walk in our tracks when hunting or walk all around our blinds or chairs we have set up. Also, these coyotes are pretty acclimatized to humans - I found tracks right up on my front porch last week. Camera was not wiped down or sprayed.

We definitely saw that a couple of years ago when deep snow moved wolves into town, we rarely saw coyotes in town but saw wolves regularly.
