Hey guys,

I hunt every fall. I shoot only when I'm certain I'll drop my target. I live in a VERY urban area with several rabbits. I have a neighbor with a rabbit vendetta. He uses ball bearings and a slingshot. In my book thats all fine and dandy should he drop them first shot. Trouble is the senile old bugger cant hit the broad side of a barn. He talks about it like hes a hero. Injures the poor lil furry things and they end up dead not only in my back yard but several other back yards in our neighborhood. My predominately Liberal HOOd is preparing to lynch this fellow. I had a friend over with his kids not long ago and I'll be damned if a rabbit with a hole in his side "bone showing" didn't hobble across the yard. My friends daughter is still feeding it with a turkey baster. I would like to walk across the street and shake the livin #### out of this ignorant old prick. Any advise? How should this situation be handled? I'm all for responsible "harvest" but intentionally injuring anything burns me up! This clown cops a hahaha and walks in the house as a living thing drags itself into the yard next door. How do i combat this? Should I hand him my .22 so its a sure thing.. no way in hell i'll join the local liberal party!

Thanks

You sound like some idiot Lieberal trolling for some type of effect. If you are not....you could also be considered an idiot for posting your question. Or maybe you are just not too swift. Time will tell I guess.

Perhaps the old guy doesn't realize how disgusting his behavior is to the neighborhood. Have you pointed out how disturbing his activities are viewed by everyone around him?

If the talk doesn't work and he continues, why not call the cops? What he is doing is wrong on several levels and you obviously don't care for the guy. What he is doing is illegally discharging - not a firearm but you can't fire a slingshot in Toronto or most other (perhaps all???) urban areas in Canada. If the cops don't take an interest call the MNR, they will send a CO to talk to him. What he is doing is not acceptable in our society and what you and your neighbors are doing with your inaction is telling him that it is OK.

Stop complaining on the internet, man up and do something about it!

I think KDX may have gotten it right and I feel like a bit of an idiot for taking this guy seriously now, does sound like a troll on the prowl...... just saying that you will never vote for the liberal party is not enough to impress people around here.

give him some sling shot lessons, or tell him to use a baby seal as a club to club the baby bunnies

I don't think a baby seal is the correct caliber for this type of hunting if you want the pelts. A nice size dead cat would be my choice. The longer tail and less mass gives you an advantage in swing speed and accuracy.

there are mechanisms in place - i beleive it's within the spca mandate to prevent intentional wounding to wildlife-or the fishcops- the same guys that come calling if you shoot squirrels in trees with a slingshot in the city

Yes, the Conservation Officers that work for the Ministry of Natural Resources to spell it out for the OP. They enforce that end of things and the regular cops can charge him with shooting the slingshot inside the city limits.

Or everyone can just get on the internet and complain to strangers that can't do a damned thing about it.

How does he sound like a Liberal idiot? Because some 'renegade' maims a bunch of rabbits and they end up all over the neighbourhood?

I understand your plight against the Grits because it infuriates me what they have done to this country. Nonetheless, when some guy is wounding animals and they are found dismembered on ANOTHER person's property, it is right-wing philosophy that suggests an action must be done to redeem the integrity of your OWN property. If you think its 'Liberal' to empathize with animals then again you're wrong. I believe Hitler's Germany was far-right on the political spectrum; the Nazis, especially Hitler, had various animal welfare legislation.

You guys can disagree and say I'm Liberal too. I'm really not though. I'm very Conservative and just believe that these assumptions (caring about animals = liberal) have a detrimental effect on our country

wow really?

x2 thats what pellet guns are for

actually, it's NOT what pellet guns are for- most municipalities have an anti-discharge bylaw in place that covers most EVERYTHING including low-vel pellet guns, slingshots, arrows, - reads something like the discharge of any device or words similar to that effect within city boundaries( notice it doesn't say limits) is PROHIBITED- that's why you can't shoot off your model rockets in the city park as well

How about telling the old man that you're finding mutilated rabbits all over the neighbourhood and that if he can't make clean kills legal troubles are coming his way.

Maybe you could help the old bugger change his ways, by helping him invest in a live catch animal trap.
Trapping is a fun, leasure activity that more Canadians should enjoy. :D

He could then release the bunnies in the country side where we all can enjoy hunting and shooting at them, cause the coyotes have got most of the wild ones...:p

I'm failing to see why everyone is siding with the senile old coot who's maiming animals....

Tell the neighbour that no one likes having rabbits dieing by fits and starts all over the place in front of kids or in your yard. To me he sounds like a sick old fart that probably got beat up as a kid and never achieved much between then and now.
