Slingshots are more then capable of killing small game. I have a diablo pro 2 and it works great on rabbits. If you want to help the guy out tell him to go get human hair clippings from a salon and spread them in his landscaping twice a month. No rabbits will go in his yard hence they will be safely out of range from his poor marksmanship
 
Just take a couple pictures of maimed rabbits to the fish cops and let them know what's going on. If there's anything to do than it'll get done. Don't make it personal. It's not. He may not even know the rabbits are winding up dead in other people's yards.

Chances are they will give him a stern talking to and tell him to trap the rabbits.

Honestly, snare wire is probably the best for catching them in the garden, but then you'll have a different problem - rabbits screaming at all hours.

Spreading hair clippings in the garden works pretty well for keeping them away.

call the COs, call the police, in other words pass it on to someone else.

if a neighbour was annoying me i would tell him. if he ignored me then i might go to plan B

tell the old fart to cut it out, he's upsetting the neighbourhood and to stop.

if he's a jerk about it then try something else... i sure don't think i'd want a jerk like this skulking around with a pellet gun in my neighbourhood.
 
Step on it's neck and throw it back over the fence. If the kids see it tell them its crule to let the animal suffer just because they want it to live.
 
"...How do I combat this?..." You call the Police plus the MNR and report the poacher. He's violating several game laws and he's dangerous.
 
I am on the side of the OP. I think give him a warning and then let the SPCA handle it. I also can't understand the hunter or moral ethics of those posters who felt it was acceptable to wound animals without quickly finishing them off.

If these are feral rabbits, I'd say kill 'em all. If they are wild rabbits that just happen to live in the city, they are subject to game laws like any other, and those rules must be respected.
I am in favour of individuals protecting their property from problem animals. But any animal that is killed, game animal or pest, is owed a quick death.

The old guy should be live trapping the bunnies, and can then dispose of them in any practical & humane way that is legal.

In his hands, a slingshot is not a humane rabbit killer. Perhaps in other people's hands it is, but there is no valid excuse for shooting any animal when there is a high probability of it just being crippled.
 
Put it in perspective regardless of the intent.. 1) he's hunting without a license (and maybe breaking local bylaws???) 2) using a weapon which he's shown he's pretty crappy at using 3) the animals are suffering, and he's letting them go to waste.

He could easily be charged by the MNR, and get fined..

If you have a varmint problem then handle it properly, which this guys is obviously not, and the neighbors are having concerns..

I'd... 1) make him aware of what the actions really are (he's hunting..) 2) he's not being ethical about it. 3) there are better ways to solve the problem without pissing off the neighbors.. (Eg like maybe trapping and then killing.. but I'm not sure about the legality of this off the top of my head.. it would have to be researched.. at least a hunter would get some tasty rabbit!!) 4) if he still continues.. do you you think you need to do to stop it..

Don't flatter yourself. I have spent over 7 years with a slingshot in my pants, and have hit the occasional bird in mid flight but this guy seems to be accurate every shot he takes and that's rare, certainly I would be no match for him.
 
If you could show me a complete uncut video of every shot he made, then I might be impressed.. it's a news story, so of course they are not going to show you the shots he missed..

Has be spent a lot of time with a sling shot.. Sure.. but they were showing close shots, and edited video. not much to get excited about..

Do you other than the rabbit thing like him, is he a good neighbor,if so don't #### it up bad neighbors are the ####s. Get some live traps and help him catch the rabbits and kill them else wear.He doesn't care about the rabbits suffering you will not change that,so work with what you got.My neighbor is a ass hole,I would rather have a rabbit shooter!!!!
