Urban Tactical Match

Who exactly will be deciding what passes for holster qualification and what standards will they base their decision on? What qualifications will they have to be able to make that decision?
 
It was definitely fun.. I shot well but forgot the mandatory mag change.. That's gonna cost me lol

Here's a review with a bit more detail:

The good:
1) Fun stages
2) Run safely
3) Friendly, helpful staff

The bad:
1) Too short.. Should have crammed more stages into it (but taking up both ranges on a weekend might be iffy..)
2) Miscommunication between RO's... Some wanted my gun barrel up and others barrel down. You guys need a clear safety policy and to e-mail it to all competitors before the match
3) Very little room in the staging area.. One competitor took up the entire safe bench with his rifle case lol

All in all a great way to introduce new people into action shooting without them having to get holster-certified. Had to support something like that as I think it's good for the sport. Thanks again for throwing a fun match and I hope that the next one will be even better!

Agree with everything you posted.

Another small improvement would be to have the order of the shooters posted where everyone can see it.
Matches will always run a lot smoother when everyone knows exactly when their turn is coming.

Whenever a shooter is finished, the next shooter should be standing there ready to go. (Not possible if you aren't sure who's turn it is.)

No idea.. Now, at pretty much every match I ever shot, the results were either posted the same day or the next day. The match finished pretty late, the field was pretty large and it looks like only paper scoresheets were done, so they have to be entered manually. Not looking forward to seeing how I placed though.. That 10s penalty will be brutal for a match this short lol
 
Did the guys from Gunslingers show up at the end and shoot? Last event they held this was kind of a spoiler. Not cool waiting around to see how you did and get washed out when Chuck Norris, Larry Vickers and JM etc, (not real names ;-) show up to clean up any chances of prizes.

No idea who they were, but if there were even 6-7 half-decent guys, the field would have been wide open. I spent more time doing handovers to the RO's than actually shooting the stages (this match was open to non-certified people, so this was a prudent safety measure).
 
What is a "handover"....is that the new term you young kids are calling a "reach around"?

Handguns and rifles were staged by ROs for each stage. After you unload and show clear, you hand your guns over to the RO to set up the next stage.

And last time I checked; It's only IPSC guys who wear florescent pink hockey jerseys to shooting matches, so you're more likely to find what you're looking for with that particular group.

Weren't there a couple of handovers mid-stage, like when transitioning from rifle to pistol in the first, same goes for the third stage, plus having to unload/show clear and pass the pistol to the RO before running off to get the piece of tape representing the hostage at the end of the 3rd? Could have been my remaining 3 braincells shutting off as soon as the buzzer went off, but that's how I remember them.. These handovers introduce just enough uncertainty that a half-decent shooter can beat the time of a good shooter.

And for the record, as an IPSC guy, I'm offended.. I shot the match in my yellow polka-dot bikini :cool:

Does anyone have any idea if they are gonna post full stage by stage breakdowns of times/penalties/etc? I wanna see if I incurred any extra penalties (even though the only one I saw on the scoresheet was a procedural for the mag change) plus where I lost most of the time. I'd assume it were the handovers, but you know what that word makes and out of whom :cool:
