URGENT: Help request!

Hullo everybody!

Together with a few friends we want to send a few goodies to one of our mates deployed with the Canadian Forces to Kandahar. We were thinking about buying him a Midwest Industries handguard for his Diemaco C8 carbine, now what we need to know is if it is the model:

MCTAR-17

or:

MCTAR-17C

that will fit the C8?

I hope one of you guys can help?

i can't say just remind him he should hold on to the issued hand guard and never take the rifle in with out the issued one re attached over there i guess they have a rifle thats issued to them on long term but when he comes back and has to store his weapon in stores i have heard these things have a tendancy to be removed and repleaced with an issue one

lucky guy to have friends like you hope he comes home in good health

Don't do it himself, It's an offense to alter of modify your rifle without proper CF authorization. Get approval and have a weopons tech do the mod...

good luck

has he talked to his CO about it fromwhat robertMCc and others have said here most officers on deployment few will have a problem with a personel adding accessoryies to they're weapon

if you don't get an an\swer you here you have 2 options you might want to call or email colt canada and ask them directly if that will fit the C8 or contact his home regiement and ask to speak to the arms tech about it worse they can say is no i am pretty sure they will not have a problem helping a friend trying to help a fellow soldier out who is on deployment.

I had a weapon tech look at my Accessories ( KAC M5 RAS, Redi Mag, ETC ) and he said to me, As long as you don't require tools or removal of metal ( fitting ) or parts IE FSB/FH ETC. Its accepted. Even changed over my cocking handle and mag release to a old style.

Theres 2 types of C8 being issued overseas now, Old 14.5" Light Barrel A1 sights and the C8 15.8" FTHB with of course the heavy barrel. I never modded my C8 but I did mod my C7A2 with KAC M5 RAS. Both use the standard carbine hand guards.

Yes my chain of command did have a problem with the state of my pretty much non issued rifle and carbine but was over there heads who said yes or no...

hmmm i guess i stand corrected you'd think they would not be upset with troops purchasingequiptment on they're dollar to better improve they combat capability i mean re out fitting all weapons even for those on deployment with railed hand gaurds would be to much the options that this poens up over the try rail front site thing i have heard about are quite wide from bi pods to vertical grips and even vertical grips with bipods in them other then shipping it out to the sand box robert what options are they're for for the opening poster?
