US Army bans PMAGS

The original rumor came from the US Armed Forces. So that makes them liable as an entity. Just like if a cop says slanderous or racial things on the news, his local detachment can be sued due to third party liability. That's why if your in a company vehicle of any type of company, you can be fired for being a bad embassador to the company.

What rumour? This discussion is about the TACOM message and all they said was that polymer mags were not authorized, they mentioned the only two mags are authorized, the good 'ole aluminum USGI and the one with the new follower.
Nothing has changed, those are still the only two authorized mags for the army. I even re-read the original article and I didn't notice any wording from a TACOM source that said polymer mags were banned, that assumption seems to be made by the author. They're just reminding people that none of these polymer mags are authorized.
I made the mistake of carrying that bug juice in the same pouch on my belt kit as a roll of electrical tape....turned it into a lump of sticky black goo in the bottom of that pouch

We actually used to use that stuff to put cam stick on our faces, why? Lol! I'm just thinking out loud here, but I don't remember it working so great with bugs either.
I bet I would look younger today if I didn't put that stuff on my face.
Just so everyone is aware - the EMag is adopted by the Uk MoD, and a few other folks.
Internal reliability tests (over the 1.86 million rounds of 5.56mm we fired in Carbines last year) over the last several years at KAC had from our T&E Manager shown an 50% plus increase in reliability with the PMAG.
Its not that the USGI Mag is bad - its more that there are many bag USGI mags floating about -- and anyone's old car is not going to perform as well as someones new car.
Look at the pictures from last years OBL hit - EMags in the Hk416's.
The PMAG is a great mag -- and in 2012 iterations pass all MILSPEC requirements.

I'm not saying the USGI mag is bad - and its a heck of a lot better than those POS Thermelt mags we got issues originally.
Secondly the Message has been willing interpreted incorrectly by many folks -- their is only 1 approved US Army M16/M4 mag - now it can have either green or the new tan (rip off) follower. This message was just a 'reiteration' of the TACOM Policy.
Kind of like those assinine CANFORGEN's that come out saying you can't use a RAS or other item. No one cares - and outside the wire your going to do what you want/need to do. It is however on your and your CoC's shoulders if your unissued gear does have and issue, or causes one.
If I had to go in harms way anymore - I'd be using PMAG's and have faith they are the best option in a M4 mag there is.
