US Army surplus Humvees for sale in Ontario~yes!

There was a bunch that went up for auction back in the 90s. A defense contractor did some trading with the US Marine core and wound up with more humvees than you could shake a stick at. They went to auction, Manheim I think but don't quote me. Everyone showed up thinking they were going home with a $5000 humvee that day. It was a bit of a surprise to them when the reserve was around the $15,000 mark. Needless to say it took a very long time for them to move. I would not be surprised if most of what is around are those. I had an 8 foot long fax at one time from Manhiem with all the hummers for sale, many of the only had 3000 miles on them. They (Manheim) even offered to pick me up at the airport in Georgia at the time since I told them I was interested in 3 of them. Sorry now I'm rambling. I will stop now. Geez I'm starting to sound like grandpa from the Simpsons...lol

There is a nice one down near the lethbridge if i remember correctly.
For that price you would probably be better off buying one out of the auction and brig it in yourself.
They're obviously making a tidy profit doing it.

^perhaps...I wouldn't know. Doesn't matter if they're $5,000...still not in MY price range! :p

Seen a few locally in BC that have had Duramax & Cummins engine swaps..............absolute BEAST!!!!

Tho.........the owner of one at a gas station in Mission said he's spent nearly $100,000 so far on one of them.............

They are cool, but i dunno about THAT cool... tmax's truck is cooler...

Wonder if it would be worth doing a duramax engine conversion ?
That non turbo 6.5 has serious reliability issues

The 6.2/6.5 is not that unreliable an engine. However, GM messed up on a few easily fixable things. It's not a Dmax or modern diesel that is easily chipped.
These engines have a huge following and a huge online resource group for doing a lot of upgrading yourself. Some guys even went so far as to develop a new turbo. (A Team Turbo I think it's called)
It can be made fairly bulletproof and for not a lot of cash. I've got a lively 6.5 suburban and it's not a money pit. Mileage is 18-22mpg US if I drive the way the group recommends. 14 if I feel like playing.
That said, the sheer bulk and inertia of the Humvee is probably pushing the factory limits of that engine.

HumVee are so "Desert storm", L-ATV is the future.

Funny thing is at Fort Drum NY the Americans thought the much maligned Iltis was the cats ass. No doubt they found a new respect for the Humvee with armour as time went on.

Good luck getting any of them registered.

If your talking about the Humvees there shouldn't be a problem. I know of a couple of the military models that are registered here. There's even one guy that has a couple of US Army issued deuce and a halfs registered here.

No reason why other provinces wouldn't register them.

^Might be fine if you are a rural resident. But in actual fact they are a very wide street beast, for as you said here drive throughs & of course narrow parking spots, narrow streets, bridges, etc.

Will be maybe impossible getting through most mechanized car washes.
