hi

just won a gunbroker auction for a 8mm lebel 1892 revolver but the seller will only ship to a us base exporter. Any of you can recommand someone ? i know buffalo gun center but i would like to keep it cheap since its an antique and no paper work should be necessary

I was looking at that gun, I don't have any other helpful information for you but I just wanted to say congrats, it was a nice one for a good price.

I was going to reccommend buffalo.

I recall someone mentioning having US sellers that don't ship to Canada ship to Antique Collectors Firearms in Texas and them forwarding the gun, but I could be wong.

I have bought from these guys in Texes and they are good to deal with, will ship directly to Canada no issues.

You might check with Questar and see if they could help you. Should be easy since there's no export/import licensing needed. Send them an email.

Are you going to get the RCMP antique letter?

I was looking for the name of the sponsor in WA but he's no longer got a link to his website at the top of the page, maybe no longer a sponsor(?) EDIT: It was Dave's Sports Shop - website says they aren't doing export any more.

Maybe try Stunguff on gunbroker? He sells lots of antique pistols and has his export liscence, or whatever it is. He's based out of oregon I believe.

Sounds rediculous to me too - antiques having to be shipped to exporters.

Personally...ida had that end of things figured out long before I bought the iron...

yeah...

i like to have the "how, where, and when" sorted out before i make a deal. Piss the seller off and you just guaranteed he will never agree to sell to another Canadian. Not many of them will as it is.

It's like shooting: don't pull the trigger until you are sure of the target.

thanks for thoses how helped. The US based dealer could not care less he has the money so that it take a day or 2 for me to find a us base exporter makes no diffrence for him. Also its an auction guys so i am not contacting pepole before i know i won it...

Call Jason Wong at Hurricane Butterfly Research w ww.hurricanebutterflyresearch.com. He does this all the time and his rates are competitive.

The seller should send to any US address if it's an antique there. If you know someone south, or a snow-bird, you can send them an RCMP letter and they send USPS. No need for exporters, and cheaper.

No problem your money and your time. I find getting all the answers before you commit can save hassles, you might find the fees charged by an exporter are more than you bargained for.

An actual antique gun dealer who has previously shipped antiques to Canada might be your best bet because he knows the antique laws and shipping regulations. All the exporters i have talked to didn't know antique regulations and weren't interested in finding out. They wanted to export like a regular firearm and pay hundreds of $$ for that.

You could try googling "FFL firearms exporter" and variations, you might find something.

Saw this and wanted to make a quick note that we have not completely stopped doing exports, but rather put a hold on it for a while to get caught up, and are currently only selectively taking new export orders (primarily for people in the lower mainland of BC, and not for AR/tactical style firearms). Since each order requires a lot of paperwork and waiting on various government agencies, we started to fall a bit behind and this was the best move to make sure we're serving all clients at the desired level. Long-term, we plan to continue offering exporting and increase the staffing and resources so we can efficiently take all all new inquiries. Hope this makes sense, thanks.

Thanks for the heads up on the situation, I was wondering my self. This is good news.
