US Bayonets

USGI bayonets work fine on FULL LENGTH m305's. On the shorties they bump into the gas system and don't latch into place properly.

With a full length I cannot imagine why you would not want the classic bayonet -- snap that bayonet on that rifle and it is such a classic look.

I just got one for my m305 (thanks to Rebel Rouser for the awsome deal - $30 shipped, brand new!); I do notice that the fit to the rifle is quite loose and rattley (luckily I don't actually need to sneak up on anyone), are they all like that?

"...On the shorties..." Are marketing things that never existed in the U.S. military. Bayonets are considered to be parts. Restricted for export. Lasttime I saw real M14 bayonets, they were running $45 each. Wasn't recently either. So $30 for a copy is good.

Norinco/Poly make flashhider OD smaller than the original USGI ones. Mine is loose too, but fixable. I just use thin nylon cord wraps around the mounting hole on bayonet a few turns, it sits tight no rattle when I mount it now.

Geez, my C7 bayonnet used to rattle around during our trench clearing exercice so I guess yes, they're all like that...

Bayonet on my 590 rattles. Only thing I haven't seen a bayonet rattle on is my Mosin...but then again once you get it on it's damned near impossible to remove it after too.

During the time frame that the Mosin-Nagant use in front line service with Russians forces the doctrine was that the bayonet was always to be affixed to the rifle and not removed. Thus the tight fit. There was NO scabbard made or issued.
