US hunter tortured ducks in Canada

Ya think? He recently released a new goose call named -- get this -- The Crime Scene Call. He sold out of 2500 of them with a net profit of $250,000.

He learned nothing and crime does apparently pay. And apparently there are at least 2500 f**ktards out there that admire the guy for his illegal and immoral s**t.
Yup, 100K is nothing when you can get the support of idjits that think laws are made to be broken, which is what I believe everyone who supports this jackwad thinks!

Wonder if CBSA will allow this fool back in the country now that he's a felon....
life time ban on hunting for this jerk,is what it should be and not allowed back into Canada for any reason.
My Dad taught me to have respect for the wildlife I took. No real hunter could or should do otherwise. This clown is a travesty and should not be allowed into Canada again.

Finally got an evil American hunter....................

Let's not forget the good ole' boys from SK that made the youtube video a while back on shooting ducks, etc. from the truck on ponds. Wonder what happened to them? Jail? Felony charges? Not likely.

A little different than a guy who commercialized his crimes and made millions off of his violations.

IIRC the "good ole' boys" were from the GTA and just happened to commit their crimes in SK.

Right and I believe that in the SK case, the birds weren't even in season nor did they make an attempt to retrieve even one bird.

Nor were the guys considered to be experienced hunters (if they had ever hunted), nor were the birds deliberately tortured after they were wounded. I'm not making excuses for the SK incidents but I think there is a difference between a bunch of ignorant boobs illegally shooting birds and a guy who absolutely knows the laws, is an ambassador of the waterfowling community and makes substantial income from his activities going out and killing over his limit, disrespecting the wildlife, illegally guiding, using 4 shells in his gun etc. etc..

Both should be punished but the latter needs to be made an example of.

I agree and I think the punishment delivered reflects this, especially that handed down by US authorities.
My point was simply that the fact he's a US citizen should have nothing to do with this case or people's reactions.

Nice picture on the article, btw. The white shades,Don Cherry shirt and generally unkempt appearance say a lot about this loser. :D

On the contrary. Jeff is just the latest and most famous in a long line of US citizens who have been caught and charged with gross violations of our migratory bird act. Some (not the majority or even a large minority) of visiting American waterfowlers treat our resource as if it was their own personal stash. They lose their minds and engage in activities they likely wouldn't do at home.

I moderate the Canada section of a duck hunters forum and in the "bad old days" a few years ago you would see postings from US hunters bragging about their 600 ducks killed in a week in Alberta or asking how to get rid of two limits of geese so they could go and kill more. It happened enough that it was evident that it was more than just one or two bad apples. The postings have stopped but I doubt the behavior has. Read the Western Game Warden and if there is a story in there about a massive overlimit or wastage of waterfowl it is usually involving Americans. I have seen for myself a couple of guys in a truck with Texas plates chucking a pickup load of nearly rotten snow geese into a ditch -- and I'm rarely in the prime waterfowl area of AB.

If a foreign national is deliberately abusing our resources they need to be punished a little more than the home grown asshats -- at least they should never be allowed back.

Doesn't happen with resident hunters, right? Always the slob Yanks. Canadians have the inherent knowledge to know better. ;)

I think we've discussed a similar topic in the past, so no need to revisit it.

All I can say my friend is that Americans are making up the bulk of the big waterfowl charges here in AB. Maybe the courts, the CO's and the media all have a hate on for Yanks and are charging them out of all proportion to the offences.

Then again, maybe it's true that the vast majority of locals could give a flying #### about waterfowl and don't even bother to shoot them let alone poach them (and when they do -- it's an extra bird here and there because they know they can shoot another 8 every day for the entire season). Yet when an American comes up here and pays a grand or so to shoot birds (even a freelancer would have to pay close to that) and only has a week to do so, SOME think that it is their right to take whatever/whenever.

There is a reason that AB changed it's laws regarding NR Aliens hunting waterfowl in AB. It wasn't JUST based on anti-Americanism (though the outfitters played that up) but on actual stats on harvest numbers -- and those were the official, reported numbers -- imagine what isn't reported.

Without sounding too anti-American myself, I've noticed many don't treat Canada or her laws with any respect. It's almost as if they don't reconize Canada as a real country and we're just here for their entertainment. And once you hear that their American your almost supposed to bow down before them or somthing.

Pharaoh2,

I think it is a classic case of "I am spending lots of money - I can do what I want" syndrome. Others might call it the "country club atitude". But what ever it is, it is real asshat, eh.

Absolutely! Greed can be a strong motivator. With the exception of the retards from ON shooting grebes in SK, most high profile cases of late involve Americans or their Canadian #####es (outfitters) treating the resource as a means to an end $$$!

I hear that statement a lot from Canadians, in regard to many aspects involving Americans, not just hunting.

I think it's generally referred to as an "inferiority complex". :D
