The bbl extensions are butt ugly to boot. I have a nice Saginaw take-off bbl, fortunately the original length, that has the front end turned down so that an extension sleeve could be silver soldered on. I also have the extension which I am planning to shorten to flush with the muzzle, turn down to the original bbl diameter, re-park, and then re-attach so that an original foresight can be mounted. Another challenge with this one is that the gas piston is somehow secured so that it cannot be removed after the piston nut is out. The piston will not move fore and aft, so I think this might have been some sort of single shot conversion. Going to have to drill this one out to replace it. Has anybody else ever encountered this modified piston situation?
