US M14 Parts Kits

many years ago, might have been before I joined CGN, I had a lengthy email discussion with John at Marstar about the warehouse full of USGI M14 rifles he has been sitting on for years. I would hazard a guess that these would be those rifles but then again who knows right?
So, as history goes, many thousand of surplus US military M14 rifles and parts were gifted to the Israelis. There is much information on the US forums and Lee Emerson's site that talk about those days and the rifles that were sent. In the days before Canada's prohib laws came around, many complete rifles were imported here, converted to semi auto only. These are still around and much sought after for parts hoarders LOL The prices started out at around 250 to 300 back in the late 80's early 90's and a "family pack" of 4 rifles representing each manufacturer (receiver stamp) could be purchased for a measly 1000.00 (shooter grade) to 1200.00 (hand picked) from old man Lever down in Vancouver.
These days I have been paying up to 1200.00 maximum for complete 12X usgi m14 rifles who's buyers want to divest themselves.

I stick to my guess that these will be Israeli surplus , it just makes sense given the history that's been shared with me. Not to say Israel is the only place that got usgi m14 rifles, but I do know there is a warehouse full of them over there somewhere hehehehe
as far as brand of parts... I get that some guys will want to build up an all matching parts rifle for the nostalgia or perceived collector value. In reality, rifles like this are civilian creations as at the depot level these would not have been built "all matching" for military use. I can understand the idea of an all matching collector if we could auction them stateside but that ain't happening anytime soon or never LOL
It's true that for the time period, TRW and SAK had the best tolerances as far as actual machining due to their air gauge technology employed in their facilities and this is why those parts are perceived to be of higher quality. I would take an SAK barrel over any other of the usgi barrels but really , it's all about milspec parts for me so as long as it's all USGI and in good serviceable condition..... and the price is reasonable.... I'm still absolutely in :D

Thomas, looks like you need to have some more clinics to prove your point. This time you get to show how to do a complete build. Count me in, I got a Norinco receiver that needs a purpose.

I hate to bring up this but I have read through this thread a couple times and still can't figure out if these will be restricted or un-restricted Do you need to have a PAL-R or just what is required Thanks a lot

Technically you don't need a pal to buy the parts since there is no reciever. You need a non-restricted to buy the reciever/ doner rifle

OK, here is a question no one has asked AFAIK.
Will these kits include the selector switch, shaft, spring, sear release & connector assembly?
Totally legal parts that won't work on an M305 receiver, but useful for making a dummy kit.

Wolverine said the export permit won't include the "auto" parts

I believe they will not come with the "fun bits". I called Wolverine and asked that same question the day I first saw this thread...... I also suspect that depending on where the receiver was cut, the bolt stop may still be at the "chop shop"......

Please correct me if I am mistaken Mr. Wolverine.

Not Mr. Wolverine, but I believe we'll be getting a stub of receiver, where it is attached to the barrel, and not much else of it.

I check with a friend of mine about m14 parts new in wrappers that I have been trying to get for years.
The US State Department will no allow the transfer of these parts to Canada! That was last week's answer.
There is no change on their part for the last 10 years. I will wait some more.

Hopefully they will be here before the end of the year, not sure if we will be shipping to customers until Jan.

Originally I thought if the receiver was cut through completely we could import all the parts, the rear end with the serial # would have made an interesting paper weight. That proposal was turned down the receiver must be cut just behind the barrel thread, and the cut off receiver can not be imported, I have asked the shop that the bolt catch and rear sight are removed from the cut portion and included, time will tell, these parts kits will be what they are. I can not list exact details until I examine them, that is why I have made no promises, I know what should be included but until they arrive I can not be sure. The shop doing the work is back logged so we are running a little late.

This is why we are not taking back orders or deposits, as soon as they are here I will confirm price, condition and photograph exactly what is included. I may or may not grade them, they will be sold "as is" with no returns. Speculating on a public forum about what parts are legal or not and what you should have included does not make my job any easier. The selector assemble on the rear of the receiver will NOT be included as per the conditions on my Import Licence.
