US M14 Parts Kits

Anyone else had a heck of a time getting that receiver stub off?

I took it to my smith and even in his vice he couldn't get it loosened, and ended up twisting the barrel around in the vice. No damage aside from some brass streaks, but may have to open it up a bit with a saw or grinder...

Make sure you have the right barrel vice and wrench to do the job (and experience) as it would be a shame to scar or ruin these rare parts.

Indeed. He has a professional barrel vice, but, seeing as the receiver stub is just well, a paper weight, not too concerned about that end. I trust him, he's done a lot of good jobs for me, and is a retired machinist, so he knows his stuff.

Cranked it in the barrel vise nice 'n snug. Used my Garand receiver wrench and it popped right off.

Don't use a grinder.....

Tell your smith to spend $100 on the proper tools!

I won't work on a M700, I don't understand why M700 plumbers are willing to work on something they don't have the proper tools for!

I appreciate the advice on that. The fact is that there's a lot of tools he doesn't have, because the work that tool does is so infrequent it's just not worth his while.

If anyone's going to be buying the tools it'll end up being me.

damn sold out right after I added to cart ahah appreciate the heads up all the same!

There were two there. If you selected the same one as someone else, and they beat you to the punch, you missed out on that specific scope.

The other one would be a different one in your cart.

EDIT: Both showing out of stock now...
