US military trainer in 1919

I'm not sure of my facts here so correct me if I'm wrong.
I gather in approx. 1919 the US military was looking for a new trainer.
The Winchester 52 and the Savage 1919 were both designed and proposed as the new trainer. The Winchester 52 won.
Anyone know what other .22's were offered to the military in 1919?

I am aware that for the 1917/1919 Browning Machine Gun, there was a .22 conversion kit for it...I've never seen one, but have seen parts advertised for sale.
