US model of 1917 Canadian broad arrow ?

I recently picked up a m1917 locally, I noticed there is a broad arrow stamp on the right side of the butt stock. I did some reading that the pcmr were issued them in ww2,could this be one? or am I way off?
I'm just looking for a history lesson

My neighbour has one. I've never looked for the broad arrow, but it has the red paint.

PCMR was issued Enfield Model 17's.

I think I even have some Canadian made/issue 1941 30/06 Ball around here somewhere that was made for them.

This one was owned by a gent who served as ARP in the Lower Mainland in WW2

Yes, you need to be careful when purchasing one of these. I have heard that some armories didn't make distinctions when these rifles came in for stock repair/replacement. I have no proof of that but it's likely true.

Your stock looks like a Pattern 17 stock to me. One other interesting thing is that US Pattern 17 bolts weren't stamped with serial numbers. That happened later in the UK and Canada etc.

For the most part. A M1917 stock will fit the P14, however there will be a little bit of space around the magazine (due to the longer cut for .30-06).

Thanks for being very pedantic. This is exactly why a fair bit of knowledgeable people who used to comment here don't anymore.
 
My uncle spoke more then once about the 3006 "Enfield" he fired in RCAF during WWII. He was an air engine fitter with 135(F) Squadron (P-40 Kitty Hawks) stationed at Terrace BC. I'm assuming at that time a Japanese invasion of our west coast was considered a very real possibility.

The P14 and M1917 are more like comparing a Porsche 911 from 2016 and the same model from 2017. Basically the exact same thing but kinda different.

Also, which one is the family car brand and which one is the luxury sport brand is kinda beyond me.
