US Regional Long Range Match - CyaN1de holding his own!

Great stuff Rich,, you guys are making us proud, BTW whats most of the guys shooting for cartridges?

From what I have seen so far, there are lots of 284's, 284 shehanes and 6.5x284's and lots of guys who know how to steer them.

I do wish my 6.5-08 was working down here but I will just have to do what I can with what I have.

All the best Richard. Anybody who goes to these big matches has an opportunity to learn a huge amount. Not only does the strong competition push you to do your best, but there are many, many very strong shooters who are happy to share.

Go get 'em!!- and watch those Ontario boys-they can be a handfull!

Larry Bartholome used the 6BR very successfully up here in Canada. That cartridge has one of the best showings ever for an over the course F-Class round.

For 3 yrs experience you have more talent than I'll ever have. That is some of the stiffest competition you'll ever get. The Americans give up nothing. Best of luck to you!

Good evening boys and girls, can you say "Train wreck"? I knew ya could.

What a day, for the first time ever in my life I held a right side target frame and got an 8 out the left hand side.

This is one tough range for a 6BR in the conditions we had today.

I will try and reemeber tomorrow to take a pic of the wailing wall, I had 3 rye and cokes in me before the last relAy of the day finished shooting.....yeah...it was that bad. After the refredhments the last thing on my mind was posting up the leader board.

Not a hope in hell of me finishing anywhere near the middle of the pack. My wind reading skills need a damn good sharpening let me tell you.

Team matches tomorrow and one more day of embarrassing myself at the 1000yd line on Sunday.

Having the oppurtunity to shoot with some of the best shooters around I have learned a ton but there are still many pebbles to be snatched.

The lowly grasshopper.

How's are little buddy Tom doing?? Found this comment on another forum

The current overall standing in F-open thur today.. I think everything is correct...these are totals thur today only, 600 yards and 1st day 1000 combined. The winds were increditability tough today on the 2nd and 3rd relays, resulting in many train wrecks, including my own!!After 3rd place, there are several 885's ranked by x count....

1-Larry B. -891/41X
2-Shiraz B. - 889/37
3-Charles B. - 886/34
4-Jim F. - 885/37
5-Ken D. - 885/36

Richard, the fact that you are there is way ahead of the vast majority of us. Good on you and keep the bullets heading downrange.

From the reports I have read, Sacremento is one of the most unforgiving places to shoot and wind, they get WIND (but I don't need to tell you that... duh).

MANY shooters have been humbled there. By the end, I bet you will get a pretty decent feel for the place and your scores will climb. Many of the top shooters have been here many times so have a better lay of the land.

I am not trying to add salt to a wound but a shooter drifting 20 to 30% less has a huge advantage in that gale. Your far side 8 would be an inside 9 or 10.

Your wind reading skills ARE GOOD but a gale leaves zip margin for error. I bet the F TR shooters are having a really tough time too.

Have fun...

Jerry
