USA dollar reached 1.10 first time in 5 years

USA dollar reached 1.10 first time in 5 years. What do you think the prices be for 2014 because of that. I say that everything will go up by 10%. I think it is time to buy all of those AR and ammo that produced by Us companies because that 10% will be passed to consumer.

people should take advantage of dealers like west rifle that have secured product at 2013 price point as when its gone there will have to be a large jump!

Don't forget the numbers shown on TV and in the media are the inter bank rates, when we actually transfer funds the banks add their cut.

I just paid a USD invoice the after the bank fees only got .88 cents USD for a CDN dollar.

We currently sell most of our products at the USD MSRP but if the dollar continues to drop to the forecast level of .85 inter bank rate you may see prices at the cash register jump by 15%-20%

I can assure you as a dealer here that the last thing I want to do is increase any prices but at the end of the day we won't remain in business if we don't. I am giving it another week before I make any decisions about pricing but price increases look to be inevitable. I am sure all the dealers are facing the same dilemma right now. To date we have been lucky as we only started in business March 1st last year so this is the 1st measurable variance we have seen.

very good point, maybe people will be less likely to buy from us direct, my last brownells order with payment via CC cost me 15.36 cents on the dollar +13% hst and shipping,:runaway:

It is unfortunate that when CAD was 1.1 USD, the savings got rarely passed to the consumer
Now that the USD is 1.1 CAD, the cost will be absorbed by the costumers.

Cost will go up 15% minimum, and more like 18-23% sustained. Canada having a weaker dollar is a bad thing, forget the surface level economic BS they try and sell the masses. My opinion.

yep.. most of our trade is with the states, and to top it off we have a huge amount of usd as reserves !

only thing that helps us colonies is the sale of our natural resources out of country ... so selling it to other countries should help (abit )

That won't happen unless we take a hit as well..

Yes, it is time for the retailers to double the prices of everything because of the lower dollar value (because they have to pay more "whole sale"). Funny how when out dollar crimbed .40 cents there was no appreciable difference in pricing, only profit margin.

hell the prices of things never dropped when the dollar was the other way anyways just more excuses for price hikes

Were always getting the shaft here.

Time to get the Vaseline ready f:P:

Yup. Show me someone who DROPPED their prices when we were above par and I'll give them the benefit of the doubt when prices go up....but all I've ever seen is "oh, we can't lower prices because our stock was bought at the earlier exchange rate"...yeah, and in the year following no one re-stocked....

Vaseline indeed.
