Usable range of Enfield #5 Jungle Carbine?

rick - won't one of those non-tap scope mounts fit? i use one on the #4 and it works awesome - i THINK they make one for the #5 jungle.

If you want to sell it rick post it here in the equipment exchange mil surp section. I see complete No 5 Mk 1s going for around 5 bills these days.

On the scoping, you can do it without bubbafying the gun. Marstar sells Weaver style bases that mount without drilling and tapping. You remove the ladder sight and use its mounting system. They're around $75 IIRC. Find some weaver style rings and a scope and away you go. ;)

Edit: Foxer was typing when I was I guess :)

These mounts that fit a No.4 without drilling and tapping also fit a No. 5:
ATI, S&K, B-Square, Armalon, Cad-Tech, and the one from Marstar that Salty mentions (looks like the Armalon, but for their price, I don't think it is actually from Armalon.)

Here are some groups form my old JC. All the gorups were shot with different ammo, some facotry, some handloaded.

I used to hunt with an oldtimer who packed nothing but an old JC. He shot all manner of game, including moose and elk. He only took shots out to about 225 yards. I once suggested that he upgrade, and his answer to me was "WHY? Dead is Dead!!"
I don't want to Hijack this thread, but the cartridge is capable of anything the 308 Winchester is, loaded in an action that does not have the spring of the LE's. I have a P14, and use 308 loading data. This rifle is scoped, and shoots into 1"-1½" with several handloads. I would be quite comfortable out to 350 or so on a game animal.
