Was looking around for some Field Manuals and ran accross this one

United States Army Marksmanship Unit - M14 Accurization.

Now I know M14 Doc will ring in here and add a few things and Hungry will start talking about how he had this manual back before the Ice Age.

But really, I've been reading the stickies and there seems to be some stuff that's not in the manual and vise versa.

Discuss.

okay, educate the new guy- how much difference does a higher polish on the piston and an extra .020" of air movement actually make? I get the tight specs for the barrel diameter and rifling pitch, but genuinely don't understand.

if this is an annoying subject, please feel free to flame

You all need to stop hehehe and remember that info is for U.S.G.I. Parts and rifles. The discussions on dimensions of parts and modifications based on USGI dimensions DO NOT APPLY to the chinese rifle, especially modifications regarding the piston/gas system.
Many of the techniques remain the same but nothing dimensionally can be related or compared with the chinese parts

Oh, your just trying to keep us from the secrets of the 60's that will take business from your bloated global corperation. How long have you tried to extinguish this information? Now , finally it's free for all to see, and your evil empire will soon collapse!

Sarcasm off.

Now that the secrets are out I will be the M14Surgeon. Probably will also register M14Anesthesiologist, M14Gastrologist, M14Proctologist(need one to remove the damn cleaning rods from stock) ;)

Hungry here:
I AM the Amateur Gynaecologist :nest:

Yup, many of those techniques are close to what M14Doctor (but he's tons better) and I practice. :D It's all good learning!

Cheers,
Barney
