I finally got this guy back from the gunshop last week, a month long wait for the CFC verifiers, which from what I understand isn't actually too bad :p

The barrel just has a coat of paint on it right now (had to get it turned down for the clamp-on A2 front sight) so I'm likely going to send it off to Barret at Arma-coat to get it nitroned, but other than that - pretty much done! :D

(And maybe a barrel shroud, but we'll see)

As for the handguard, no details yet other than it's a 3D printed prototype, it's tough as nails as far as crush and impact tests I've done - but I need to see how it responds to getting warm/hot!

Thank you guys! The A2 I've actually wanted to try for a while but didn't think it could be taper pinned. Then I found out Armalite made the clamp-on one and away I went. I am likely going to get a clamp-on flip up sight like the Vltor and see how I like that as well, the gun DOES look very good without the front sight on, as well though, so a flip-up front could look good. It's pretty funny but the sight height above bore for the AR15 and the USC45 are almost identical!

The handguard I think went through about 5 or 6 revisions before I finalized it on this, changing lengths and little details. The Picatinny rail on the bottom was difficult to get the specs just right, as a 3D printing doesn't always print exactly to what you wanted, but it fits ADM bipod bases and Magpul MOE vertical grips etc...

I would love to get the grip injection molded and produced, but with the severe lack of USC45's coming in (and now possibly discontinued?) I don't think it would be worth it ever.

Looks like a beautiful mix of a XM8, XCR and the UMP. Pictures with the mags on and a range report? Also, what was the total cost to get you where you are now with your USC? The only thing I'd change is add a full length rail on the top, but that's just me.

Another picture from the other side:

With a 5/25 UMP45 magazine. (showing the serial number cutout in the handguard)

Cost is a bit tricky with this gun, as I've changed it so many times and modified so many parts. The stock block I designed and had a machine shop make, rather than trying to get or import an HDPS stock block, so I paid twice what the HDPS block was worth, but I like mine more. It has a stainless steel threaded insert into the Aluminum rather than using a clamping bar like the HDPS.

The most expensive components were undoubtedly the UMP conversion parts, must have 1100+ bucks into the lower receiver stock block, and I got a really good deal on the lower. The mags themselves, I paid 110 bucks a piece for, and I got 10 of them.... so there's that.

The handguard, If I built it one time only was around $100, but as I said before.... this is mark 5 or 6 now? Not to mention all the little things like rail sections, my custom extended charging handle, non-restricted barrel and the work to put an AR15 front sight on it (plus the refinish it will eventually need).

So as far as how much I have in it goes? An absurd amount. To do it over from scratch with my current knowledge? I could PROBABLY do it for under 5 grand including the gun and optics and mags etc... :O I've also been working and tinkering on this thing for over 5 years or so :p
