Hey all. I finally decided to get my first HK today and picked up a USC. I am interested to know (and I figure there must be) someone who has done the USC to UMP 'style' conversion recently. I have not even received mine yet and I am already looking to get rid of the ugly stock and do the forward battle grip. Any thoughts on where I can buy the components needed?

Authentic UMP conversion?

or something like this

Non restricted with a Hera Arms FSC stock adapter, ACR stock and Hera Arms billet 5/20 magazine

I would like it as close to authentic as possible. I saw a good looking one on the Harron Arms website which is pretty well what I want to do. Match the color, use the genuine stock, and do an NR barrel with a shroud. I also want to use the genuine mags with the clear sections.

you need to source a real UMP lower to use the UMP mags, good luck, even the Hera stuff is almost impossible to get now

As you can see my USC is one of the first ones before they were available in black. I have not found a real UMP lower in all that time. I did however find a real G36 lower not too long ago.

You'll need a UMP lower receiver, the stock Block (HDPS makes a nice one!) and then magazines.

Honestly your best bet is to use an import company like IRunGuns to get the parts, buy the parts of HDPS.org or HKparts.net

You'll also need to open up the hooks of the UMP lower to 1/4" rather than 6mm, and open up the upper receiver to accept the double stack magazines. HDPS has some great pics and info on how to do all this stuff!

I never had a traditional UMP conversion, the rifle itself isn't that great as far as ergonomics go, and the sights aren't that great either. But a few mods and it's a great shooter!

Wow! Is that one you built?

Non restricted barrel?

Wouldn't dare guess what that cost ya to build.

Impressive setup!

Yes, IRUNGUNS can get everything imported for you. You just purchase everything from hkparts.net, will run you around $2000 for the parts and import. If your serious I can give you more details.

UMP Mags are expensive right now, only one vendor in Canada has them and they want $130 each. But then again, importing them through others and pinning etc, runs pretty much the same.

Well, I would say that my level of serious is pretty high. I am known to spend the long dollar if I have to, to make these projects happen. I got the usc for sooooo cheap (new), so that helps buffer the financial pain of the conversion. Can you PM me the company with the UMP mages ? I will go buy a bunch of them while I can. I guess the other question is if there are aftermarket 'clone' components available for the stock? Bottom line, by the sounds of it, I need the lower, the stock, the rails and the battle grip.

It is good to know that I Run will bring it in. Good guys.

Thanks for the help guys. Keep the info and resources coming. It is very much appreciated.

I really like what you have done- the Hera stock Looks great. Do you have the contact info for the people you got the stock and grip from. I am going to keep it 45 and will get the NR barrel from Herron I think.

I assume your referring to me. I picked up the Hera Stock set from Wolverine supplies for around $460 if I remember correctly.
