I bought a used SA Loaded Operator. What would you check in a used gun or replace immediately? (So this is more of a general question about how to buy a used gun, but if you have experince with this particular model that would be the best.)

Sorry if I wasn't clear.
So what parts are tend to wear out on a 1911? Where you can see the wear at firs if it was excessively used? Do you replace any parts regularly or you replace things only when they are broken?

take it out and shoot it first, if it funcions flawlessly, it's fine and you don't need to replace anything. CLEAN IT FIRST, just to become familiar with the parts and operation. One of the mistakes newbies always make is to pull back the slide to chamber a round and hold onto the slide while it is going into battery. Let it go, and it will usually, 99.99999999999999999 % of the time feed the first round flawlessly, also keep your wrist on the fireing hand rigid or the limp wrist hold will act like a recoil absorber and the slide won't go back all the way, causeing stovepipeing and maybe failure to eject. Other than that enjoy the new toy. bearhunter

How "used" is it? If it has less than 10,000-20,000 rounds through it I wouldn't change anything provided its working properly.

If it isn't change the bits that aren't. Springs are the most common. Everything else should last a LONG time.

Slide stops breaking/wearing usually means that either the barrel/link isn't fitted properly or the slide being dropped on an empty chamber. The latter is ABUSE of the gun.

If its fitted right and you don't drop on an empty chamber then it should all last in the order of 100,000 rounds, give or take a bit... I'll bet its nowhere near that "used".

No it is not the TRP, it is an older Loaded Operator. It was discontinued in 2004. Here is a picture about it:
