Arrows out of a 20g will lose the flights immediately, but still probably go 500 yards in a nice big arch. Pretty unread actually how fast they come out.

I HAVE LOADED a glass marble in the shot cup in place of shot. just make sure the shot cup with marble will pass through yor choke if you have any. this is important because the marble will not compress like lead shot will.the marble really whistles out .

best bet save yourself from serious injury and reload shells with proper slugs or said pennies. but if anything just spend the money and buy a box of shells

I say make some slugs out of magnesium jackets with a Tungsten carbide rod pointed on the business end. More robust and nose heavy.

Shouldn't pennies be too small for 12g? I think quarters loonies or toonies would fit better.
Is there a video for this, visuals would really help out.

12gauge = ~.710-.729 depending on the bore/choke. Pennies are way too big. A dime comes out to ~ .709"
