Used Norcs to avoid

Seriously consider the NP29, the 1911 9mm single stack. I've gone BACK to another NP29 and also another Norc 1911 .45 ACP. They are the backbone of my collection. Okay, so I had to take a stone to the sharp edges, that's about a steady hours' work, but I did not mind since I'm on crutches while convalescing after surgery. The work on the Nork was quite welcome. LOL

Cheers and good luck with the handgun addiction.

How accurate is the NP29? I've shot my friend's Norinco 1911A1 .45 single stack with his reloads. It is a coarse handgun but surprisingly performed very well. It was very accurate to my amazement. I have seriously considered buying a Norinco 1911 style but since I do not reload, I prefer 9mm. Can you give some quantified results such as consistently how many inches apart at say 15 yards?

Thanks

Before I sold mine to another member of this forum (I have the STI Trojan in 9MM so I didn't need both), I can tell you at 15 yards a two inch circle or less was the norm from a bench. Sights really are not the best but the gun is capable and much more than the sights will allow. A new set of Heinie or Novaks would solve that problem.

Had I kept it I would have had a trigger job done on it and replaced the sights. Other than that the gun was good to go. Great shooter with little to no recoil. If you find the slide does not lock back on the last round go to a 10# spring. I did that with my STI and solved the problem. The STI comes with a 14# spring which I think is to heavy for the 9MM.

The NP 29 is a great gun. Wish they made 10 round mags for the 1911's in 9MM which really is the only drawback for playing the IPSC/IDPA games.

15 yards is practically point blank for a Norinco 1911. Gun probably shoots more accurately than me at that range. [Even the Sig copies make touching holes at 10 yards] At 25 yards, the stock Norinco 1911 starts to open up to 3.5" or greater (usually 4").
