Used rcbs rs3, decent press to start?

This is just me but I would buy a new press if I was starting out, or a used press that I was nib or barely used. So from someone I actually knew, just takes one thing out of the equation when getting into a new thing. Same with a beam scale, everything else I’d buy used if I wasn’t buying a press kit.
 
I think that's the first version of the Supreme that has the larger case spacing and option for left or right hand lever position. Not positive though. Pretty good press for a hundo. If it's rust free, not much can go wrong with the exception of children under five and shark bites.
Btw if you know someone in the GVRD that can pick up my old RCBS beam scale in South Delta it's yours for a screaming deal. Original packaging, as new. Happy to see it get some use. Not free but super cheap compared to buying new. It's pristine. PM me if your interested. The offer is for you only. Otherwise I'm keeping it for a SHTF zombie apocalypse when there's no power. Bb, I would agree with you for the most part, but I've had brand new in the box presses from RCBS/REDDING/CH/Bonanza/LEE and Hornady which were not properly aligned. Sometimes it's very difficult to tell, even with a dial indicator.

The one press I've had great success with has been the little RS3 from RCBS.

Most presses of that type are used almost exclusively for pistol cartridges and most don't see a lot of use, because until recently it's been possible to purchase loaded ammunition almost as cheap as it could be loaded for from components.

OP, the $100 is at the TOP end of where the prices are on "used" presses of that type. You would be very lucky to get $75 for that press used at a gun show. Most presses I see at gun shows such as those offered by RCBS/REDDING/LEE/HORNADY, LYMAN in that price range go home with the seller if he/she won't budge on price.

The RCBS kit, which those presses usually come in, includes everything needed to reload, other than components. They're usually a good place for beginners to start.
 
I sold it on kijiji, for $100 with 4 guys in line hoping the other would bale. I thought it was a fair price, didn't get a nibble here or on outdoorsmen forum.
 
I purchased a new Lee challenger. 150 bucks

Yup consider it money invested, it'll pay off in time what with prices being what they are. Especially with the whole tariff thing, and DT getting rid of the exemption when crossing the border
