It looks like Tradex found a bunch of Model-14 revolvers. All in the $500 range.

As I understand it; These are the same as a Model-10, but with a longer barrel and adjustable sights.

I'm curious where these guns came from.

If these revolvers could talk; I'm sure they'd have some interesting stories.

It's hard to blow the photos up enough to get good detail but I'd say most of them are shooter grade. Tradex's rating of "very good" might be a little optimistic.

I like tradex, but i can't see "very good" on any of them! Solid shooters, but some have trigger shoes brazed on, and all have significant bluing wear. I'd love to pick up a 17 in 6" but not for those prices in that condition.

No... I laughed at the "very good" rating, along with the prices that topped out at some $550 for ones that still showed a lot of wear or blemishes. I think they graded these after they did a load of milsurps. Fair to Good would be more like it.

I was thinking of one of the 17's but decided to wait for a real VG used one to come up. No point buying a fair one now and an Ex one later.

I myself is surprised by the rate given, sure look more to me like fair to good, maybe the pictures are bad, i will wait to see, usually Tradeex rating are right on... JP.

You guys are looking only at the outsides. From other threads and from the specific write ups on the Tradex site the "very good" applies to bore condition and perhaps the chamber conditions. And here again from the previous posts about Tradex the conditions of these all important internals tend to be under rated by them. So chances are you'll be pleasantly surprised by the internal condition.

Having said that these are obviously guns that were handled a lot. Maybe the sort which are carried a lot and shot little like so many police guns. There's clear signs of fairly heavy long term holster wear on the half dozen that I looked at on the big pictures.

Speaking of which if you click on the thumbnail and go to the specific listing then click on the picture again it takes you to a new bigger version. And if you click on the four arrow expansion icon it opens up a HUGE picture that you need to scroll around on. All the details you could ask for are easily seen then.

For anyone looking for a good shooting grade revolver and perhaps one to be used in matches needing a holster these promise to be primo options. For those that want pretty looking guns yeah, not so much. But for the price these would be great.

Even in my 7 years of shooting I've seen costs of good revolvers climb like a jet fighter. Guns like this 6 years ago were around $350 to $380. The nice almost NIB ones were $500 to $550. Now both have gone up by a good $250 or more for both cases. So these might not be bargain prices but they are in line with what we're seeing consistently on the EE and on the consignment shelves in the local gun stores.

It's the internals I'm more concerned about. Things that bore condition of a .38 or .22 don't indicate.

My old ex police Model 10 wasn't near as foxed, and the 14 and 17 aren't duty guns.

Though I'll watch and see if they list any more. The better ones are all gone.
