I'm looking for a Semi Auto shotgun and I've pretty well narrowed it down to Benelli or Beretta, mainly the A300, SBEII or a Vinci. I won't be doing much more than shooting trap with it. Looking for opinions on these.

I don't want to spend more than $1300-$1500 and am looking at used options.

Any other suggestions other than these are welcomed as well.

That price point should get you a new one or close to it. I got my A400 new for $1200 and just saw a new SBEII on sale for $1500. Only problem was it was left handed. An SX3 might be another option to.

For that price you should be able to pick up a used Browning O/U. Last time I was looking for a semi, Benelli's web page stated that they require 3 dram loads to cycle. I ended up buying an A400 Xplor that will cycle 3/4 oz loads.

Where did you get the A400 for that price? I'm seeing them over $1500

I got it at gunroom at yearly fall sale. Cabela's has synthetic A400 on now for $1400 and A350x extrema for $1250 but I'm not familiar with it.

If you truly want a dedicated trap gun, you should consider a raised rib that throws a pattern above the line of sight. Field guns are generally flat ribbed so you have to completely cover a rising bird. This of course means you are shooting somewhat blind by times which could increase misses. The SBE2 throws a pattern much higher than the 300 in my hands but fit can change POI. As already mentioned, it is unlikely that the SBE will cycle target loads however. I had the Ethos which was apparently designed to cycle very light loads. It would, but not all brands and not every time.

The nice thing about trap guns is that one doesn't need a bunch of chokes. Some extra weight and 30 inch+ tubes doesn't hurt either. This opens the door to some very nice older guns that are extremely under valued due to people's obsession with choke tubes and need for the latest and greatest.

The Gun Dealer has the Benelli Montefeltro on for 1200 right now, brand new, might be worth a look. Also the Fabarm XLR5 is a great autoloader.
Autos are not the best trap gun in the world though, unless you get a shell catcher, you will likely be hitting the person standing next to you with empties.

Lots of options come up on the EE for used shotguns.
It has been pretty slow for sellers recently on the EE so I am sure there deals to be had.

The Urika 391 is a good choice for trap, especially if you can find one with a parallel target stock. You should be able to find one in the $1000-1100 range.
Buy a shell catcher for it though !!!!
