Nothing, but the Gen2s are an upgrade.
Gen1s are the rifles with the carry handle.
Gen2s have a flat top rail right from the factory. They also have a few other nice things like an ambi mag release.
Not to be confused with the FTU, which is a Gen1 retrofitted with a top rail made in Canada.
Gen 1 had some feeding issues due to the feed ramp and ergo is not the best. Some people have better luck with it and some don't. I have the gen2 and it has a flat top rail to mount optic, charging handle can be place left or right side. Ambi mag release which is key! Zero feeding issues and i used GI mag, pmag gen3 no problem.
Some of the Gen1 guns also had an issue with the gas port hole being drilled carelessly, resulting in a divot taken out of the wall of the bore opposite the port. Apparently the Gen2 guns didn't suffer from this.

I'm going to have both in my hands soon enough. I have put about 500rds through the wk180c, so far ran 100% new bolt carrier enrout though... got bored and ordered a gen 2 t97 flat top in the mean time hahaha. kodiak's turn around time has been so quick that I suspect my 180 will beat the t97 here. Both will be put through the paces to earn a spot in my safe. Honestly probably just gonna pick the one that's more accurate as i suspect they are about equally robust. The t97 is gonna have to like the cpd lar 15 pistol mags... no exceptions.
