USGI gas system on Norinco m305

In my ongoing M14 build I've bought a Criterion barrel and I'd like to get the gas system unitized. I'm looking at getting a USGI gas cylinder and front band (Note* the barrel is not yet mounted on the rifle). Is the norinco stuff USGI spec? The upgrade to used USGI parts is about $130.
My other concern is that the gas Norinco cylinder might be metric and my barrel is not.

Any info would be great.

My muzzlebrake was metric i would imagine the gas system would be aswell

The threads on the Norinco are all metric, ie. the gas lock. The splines on the gas system are the same as the USGI, you will need a USGI spec gas lock to make it work.

I have a SA gas lock so I should be good.

bed it before unitizing. with that barrel should be one sweet shooter.

I'll probably bed it after unitizing if I go that route. I'm considering a blackfeather rs chassis to replace my cheap Norinco polymer thing. The wood stocks are nice though.
