I just got the E-mail from Numrich....yes, you was right...I need to do some paper work....
but, if I find stock on the Ebay...and the salere is going to ship M14 stock to Canada from US, do I need to get this permit???
regards
thanks

Once again, ALL M-14 Parts require Export Permits REGARDLESS of who sell them to you.

IF an E-BAY seller decides to ship you a stock without the required paperwork, that is his risk.He risks being fined/jailed if caught.Plus the package may be seized before it leaves the U.S.If that happens you will not get the stock.

If you are trying to solict ways around the U.S. exports laws, DO NOT do it on this board.

The CGN policy is that the import/Export laws of BOTH Canada & the U.S. MUST be followed.

Quote from the Canadian International Trade website...

Q4. I want to buy parts in the US for my firearm and import them into Canada.

A4. The US controls on the export of firearms extends to parts also. For small orders worth less than US$100.00 the US Department of State allows an exemption from the export licence. This exemption, however, does not cover ‘significant’ parts which includes; barrels, slides, cylinders, bolts, frames and receivers. It should be noted that there is no equivalent exemption offered by the Department of Commerce for shotgun parts. Further, there is no exemption for ammunition or ammunition components. Canadian importers should follow the procedure outlined in Q1 (above) to import parts not exempted.

Now I don't know if this would apply to the assult classifiction that Skullboy has indicated...

Things changed earlier on this year. Even if you wanted a $1.50 front sight post for your M14, you need to get the import/export paperwork done for it. If it is noted anywhere that it is for an M14, you need paperwork. Doesn't matter below, above, right on $100.00, you need paperwork. Numrich will only sell with the right paperwork. The U.S. government also put the M1 carbine in this class as someone found out earlier when he DID try to buy a front sight post and they wouldn't sell to him without paperwork.

Thanks for the clarification Ripstop! I just got a stock from MikeBaker and it looks like I'll have to go through this stuipid process..fark!!!

Export Permit Fun

As ridiculous as it sounds, it's not the silly Lieberal government that is hassling us this time. We are getting double teamed and it's the s2pid terrorists' fault.

Of course IAW CGN Policy, we cannot tolerate people advocating breaking US laws (good, bad or indifferent).

Those of us who imported all kinds of stocks from 2002 and 2004 got lucky, I guess....

And up until about July 18 of this year. That was the last order I made to Numrich getting M14 parts before all this started. I think it was very shortly after that when things changed - like about two weeks after.

Ok MikeBaker just told be the export thing only applies to the M14 and not the M1A. Now, yes I'm a complete noob so i'll ask the dumb question......What is the difference between the M14 and M1A?

Please be kind :)

Actual M-14 rifles were USGI select fire, while M1A rifles are commercial made, semi-auto only rifles.

The fiberglass stocks people are wanting are USGI M-14 stocks, so they requires export permits from the U.S.

Also, The USGI parts everyone wants are M-14 parts, so unless you want to settle for commercial, cast reproduction parts, permits are required.

If people are buying/selling M-14 stocks/parts without doing the required paperwork, the CGN Admin DO NOT want to see anything posted on the board regarding these transactions.
