USGI M14 fiberglass stock with metal liner?

As far as I know, there's no need for the metal in a fiberglass stock.
There are a few custom builders using a machined steel liner epoxied into the fiberglass stocks. (such as Tank's Rifle shop (in the U.S.).
The modifaction precludes glass bedding and lasts a lot longer.it is similar to the H.S. Precision bedding blocks.
But this Mod is VERY expensive and some say it is a needless mod with the new steel expoxies on the market.
