I'm looking for some advice from people who have used the Burris pos-align system. The Burris Signature high rings are mounted on my Rossi Wizard single shot (high rings are necessary for clearance between my Rossi's hammer and the scope eyepiece).
I began by centering my scope reticles in their middle range, then I made sure the rifle was sitting level (I measured level from the weaver base). I slid the rings onto the weaver base, put the scope into the Burris rings using the 0 inserts and made sure the crosshairs were perfectly level before tightening everything down (nice rings!)
I visited the range and at 25 yards (using lead sled to minimize shooter error) sent 3 rounds downrange. The bullets impacted 12" directly above where the scope was aiming. That's quite a difference for 25 yards!
So, now I gather its time for some inserts to move the scope in line with the bore. I picked up a set of +/- 20 inserts ($13 for 2 pieces of plastic: can you say profit?!!. I will put these on the front ring.
Will the +/-20 inserts get me close- or will it be necessary to do inserts on the back ring as well? (I'd like to use the inserts as much as possible before adjusting the reticles)
Thanks for your advice on this one.
