I was recently able to acquire some of the CCI 34 Military Large Rifle primers, and had an old manual that indicated they were appropriate as a magnum primer.
Naturally I needed to put that to the test. I used an known-good load in my 338 Lapua, 90+gr of VV24N41 and only changed the primers. I did 25 CCI 34 and 25 Fed 215M, and shot them at 7C, which was a boon while waiting for the poor rifle to cool off!
There were no mis or hangfires on the CCIs, and the SD is a little higher, but not unusably so. Accuracy at 100m was not significantly different, both agging around 0.7MOA .
While YMMV, I think that the CCI 34s worked quite well as a magnum primer.
