Using goose decoys for ducks. Legal?

Goose and duck season open Sept 1st. We can hunt ducks all day, but geese only until noon before Oct 15th. Is it legal to use goose decoys after noon before Oct 15th to hunt ducks?

I believe, so long as you don't shoot any geese that decoy, you are good to go.

The ducks may try a civil suit against you for false advertising or something, but there's nothing in the hunting regulations that specifies you have to use the right species decoy.

Are you 100% sure this is legal ? Always wondered about the legalities of confidence decoys and have gotten lots of conflicting answers. Want to use turkey dekes for coyotes and heron decoys for waterfowl.

There could be different legislation in different provinces pertaining to big game decoys so that's a tough one.

In regards to the OP's question, he is good to go. 100%. I had a hand in the regulation change.

I was stopped once by the RCMP who questioned me for shooting ducks over canada goose decoys in the afternoon. After I pointed out that there was nothing in the regulations to prohibit the practise, and when I explained that the 4 goose decoys in my mallard spread were "confidence decoys" he agreed and left, no problem.

After seeing plenty of game cam pic with both deer, and turkeys in the same photos, I thought why not try it...Works great for skittish deer... I chit you not...So much so, that a number of friends started to use them...
