Using inertia bullet pullers with a dead blow hammer.

I have been using a ball peen hammer for years with my inertial puller. Hold the ball peen in the off hand, flat surface up. Hit it with the inertial hammer. Usually 2-3 hits will do it. Saves banging on concrete floors. After all these years the inertial hammer end is slightly peened over. Should be good for another 20 years.

You need something hard and solid for an inertia puller to work well. Wood is soft enough that it absorbs a portion of the force. Soft lead is a little better than wood. Concrete shop floor is the best I've found.

To avoid denting up the soft or plastic tipped bullet noses I put half a foam earplug in my inertia puller to cushion the bullet when it flies out of the case. Powder separates from the foam easily.
