USMC Designates Glock 19M the M007

So why do you say you "don't understand the fixation that Canadians seem to have with compact handguns"?

I understand completely that different strokes for different folks. I'm not even saying that I'd never buy a 19, but given the conditions under which we can shoot handguns in Canada there's a disproportionate number of people who want a 19 over a 34.

HAHA, read a book my friend...

I have, and the numbers largely favor the .45 ACP on a shot for shot basis.

Moreover, I've spoken to a few people who had a considerable amount of experience on 2 way ranges with handguns, and they tended to favor the large calibers.

A compact will never be able to do what a full size can for the purposes that Canadians are allowed to use them.

As long as you practice proper sight picture and trigger squeeze, a compact will do everything a full size will, as long as we’re talking the same or similar style of gun. Comparing a FN Baby Browning to a 5” 1911 is a different story. Only because the Baby Browning has an ultra small grip and non- existent sights.
I shoot my G19 as well as any of my full size handguns. Same for my 3” K frame revolvers. But I’ve had a lot of years practicing.

Can’t speak for Master-G or anyone else, but a lot of it is an esthetic reason for me. I find smaller handguns esthetically more proportional.
I prefer a 1911 in Commander size vs the 5” also. The only longer gun that looks right to me is a S&W M29, blued, with a 6” barrel and normal length underlug.
The G34 just has too long a nose for me. Again, only a personal choice!

But they're very different beasts—and I've owned both. The 19 is a fun-to-shoot little pistol (even with a Canadian-legal barrel length) and is (arguably) the best combat handgun ever made. There's a certain "pride in ownership" of having one. The 34 is a great pistol in its own right, but it's more suited for competition shooting, or shooting at longer distances...say, past 20m or so. Not everyone is interested in that type of shooting.
