I thought I would share a rifle that better be a "keeper" considering the time and money that went into it. It's very similar to a USMC DMR build. I got the urge to build one because I like M14s, and I like playing the Arma 2 Dayz mod which has a DMR as an in game gun. It's an LRB M25 build with all USGI components except for the bolt, which is made by LRB to USGI spec. It has a Unitized gas cylinder (screw and glue), national match sights (even though I'll never use them, maybe should have passed on that one), and a trigger job. Barrel is a SS Kreiger 1-11 heavy barrel. The stock is a mcmillan M2A stock. The scope is a Nightforce ATACR which thankfully I bought way before the dollar crapped out. I took about 18 months to get it all done. It was imported by our good friends at IrunGuns who brought across the boarder pretty fast.
So a few differences between a USMC DMR and this rifle, mainly that the USMC DMR has a medium barrel instead of a heavy, and it believe it's probably chromoly instead of SS. I'm actually contemplating having the barrel painted black, and possibly the stock a more of a evergreen color. I think I should try shooting it more first.
I've only been to the range once with it and this was the M14 that "double fired" on me, which I posted a thread about. Probably going to range tomorrow and start my load development. I do reload and do planning on posting a range report when the time comes, but that might not be for a few months. I haven't been shooting that much because I've been playing with RC cars instead (much cheaper hobby than shooting). Regardless, here are the pics, enjoy!
Oh, and I would like to give a big fat middle finger to the US department of state for requiring export licenses to have Mcmillan stocks exported.
